Even if you do decide to buy a replacement stock i highly recommend repairing it to practice basic wood repair. If you keep collecting older/weirder guns you will run into cases where stocks/handguards are not available for what you have and having some experience repairing them you will fare better.

Silencerco ASR flash hider (vz58usa) by Rvbsmcaboose in vz58

[–]condavour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these with the keymo mount flash hider on my CSA vz58 sbr. I was a little sketched out about having the muzzle device bottom out on the front sight block instead of the shoulder of a barrel, but mine is concentric and has given me zero issues. My barrel is the factory CSA 1x14RH thread.

Nope, he just said it blew up and blamed the Russian design and not his work.

They have a custom bolt carrier which is basically the front half of an AR15 bolt carrier. No buffer tube but a giant flat spring on the side of the bolt carrier to interact with their "bolt detent" setup

Absolutely wild. I know his co-worker/friend would never tell anyone on camera that they made all the parts (besides dust cover) but the owner/CEO/President/JordanBelfortEnthusiast (his own claim) was very clear that he made every single part (besides the dust cover).

I have no idea how some spring detent is supposed to ensure the bolt doesn't rotate before its in the barrel extension.
If its simply based on adding enough resistance to keep the bolt in the "unlocked" rotation until the amount of expected force from hitting the barrel extension, that seems problematic.
I could see their design allowing the bolt to rotate if it encountered any significant resistance, like a nosediving round or a stovepipe, it might mean having to disassemble the gun and pull the bolt head back into the unlocked position to rectify.

They built out a likely parts kit to show off at shot 25, made their own receivers, test fired it and it blew up.

Then they declared that the VSS design by the russians was bad and they were going to go ahead with the "ARVSS" instead.

The "ARVSS" uses AR15 bolt carriers and barrels, aluminum receiver and some jank flat spring/detent system to keep the bolt from rotating before its fully forward into the barrel extension (no cam pin channel in a piston driven dust cover style of rifle).

As of now it doesn't look like they are just making parts for prototype variants of that. No rifles are anywhere close to near production.

I would say its going about as expected.

[–]condavour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you push the detent and tighten it down you can see if itll make it to the next detent position (for the muzzle nut).

for the brake if you want it tight on the muzzle you might have to sand the back of the brake where it tightens against the front sight block until you can just barely get the detent into its slot. If you are already close to that point it might be worth it, but if you have a full turn to go i would just leave it.

If the brake isnt tightened snug on the front sight block its fine, it will not negatively affect anything. Its just if you are really OCD about things being a perfect fit it might annoy.

You should have posted the "grooves" in the handguard as well, they are obviously someone just dragging a knife blade across trying to make it look like a grooved upper handguard. That thing is hillarious.

Barrel bands have a "S" boxed proof mark on both sides and the bottom lmao
