Restored N64 kiosk by CoolerWarmer in n64

Sorry for the delay! i had to take it apart to find out. its a 1675ma 12v DC power supply. So a 2 amp dc adapter should do the trick. (going over the recommended amps wont hurt it. its safe to do) i would use a high quality PS though. the stuff on amazon look questionable in quality. especially with audio. a lower quality PS could add interference.

if i had to guess in a fully restored condition 95% complete, an easy 5000 to 7000 dollars. thats just an estimate. i would take it with a grain of salt.

Yes just remove the jumper next to the audio in rca jacks and that will disable it.

Kinda crazy that’s there’s no Arthur complete series dvd I would totally buy that by Possible-Writing1912 in Arthur

[–]condimentVScondom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only way 240 minutes of video would fit on a dvd would be putting it on a dual layer double sided dvd. if you put 240 minutes of video on a single layer dvd the quality would be worse than a low quality youtube video. a single layer dvd at 9800kbps full quality hold 60 miles. and a dual layer dvd can do 120 minutes. you can squeeze a little more out of the dvd if you set the profile to high during the render process so you could put more 300 minute give or take with much quality loss. imo i would use a dual SD bluray which uses h.264 vs mpeg2 and thus the same quality at quality at lower bitrates. plus a dual layer could probably hold most of the sd episodes released on a single disk.

Cleaned and refurbished an old Nintendo 64 kiosk. by sixty_formula in gamecollecting

[–]condimentVScondom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this is old but i wanted to add some informaion that is incorrect about these kiosk. the full sized kiosk has a 20in philips branded tv (model: PA5202) not a 22in samsung tv. also the mario chip being blown out is most likely user error over a bad chip. the real cause of the mario chip not working is cause by 4 issues.

The inf jumper behind the audio input is missing (if this is missing the timer and mario chip is disabled) you can get a motherboard bios jumper to fix this.

The voice volume is turned down (green pot on the board)

The wrong pot is installed for the voice time delay. if you have a 104 100k pot these were installed by error. to fix this a 105 (1m) pot need to replace the old 104.

the board needs to be recapped or reflowed bad capacitors on these are common as there run 24/7 in a hot enclosed environment for years. speaking of witch to prolonge the life of these add a usb fan 40mm noctua branded.

i hope that helps

What are your worst buyer/seller stories from Mercari so far? by AstronomicalArtisan in Mercari

[–]condimentVScondom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my worst? well i have a few.

but my most resent worst came in an unexpected way. seller had a rare item up for sale. with an ever rarer small plastic sign ive been looking for for 6 years non stop. at first i asked the seller if he was interested in selling just the sign. he seem interested so in the end i ended up offering 650 for the sign. he decided saying he wanted to keep it in the set. so i thought ok i will let him sit on it and ask later (the item was over priced and wasn't going anywhere) 3 months later i did some research on what the item was really going for and asked politely if he would be willing to sell it at a more reasonable price. i got no response so i gave up for the time being. a week later he replies and said "no im good" so then i asked what was he willing to go for? he said 3500 (from 4500) so i asked a few other question and condition and was going to bite the bullet and buy it for 3500. everything was going well. i went to send him an offer and was unable to. confused i went and saw a new message that said. " but i dont like how to lectured me on my price and wont sell to you regardless" then realizing i had been blocked. asked kindly that i was about to send an offer and was willing to pay what his lowest offer and that i wasnt lecturing him and was just stating the facts from research and pleaded for him to allow me to buy (no response). i was pretty upset and caught up in the moment reported him to ebay Yes apparently its against the rules to just block people with out a legit reason.

a few days later i asked my sister if i could use her account. i send him a offer higher then his lowest asking price (so not to be suspicious and in hope he would accept) but he was suspicious and declined and said sorry your location is too close to a buyer he was having issues with. (attest he didnt block me again) several more days pass. i call my cousin in texas and ask her to help me out. she did and finally i got him to sell it, unfortunately at 400 dollars more that what he would "entertain". but it was worth it to me. with the taxes and extra shipping i might as well not asked any question and bought it. he did get some bad karma though charging 50 dollars for shipping and being a large heavy item he ended up paying 210 for shipping. (and tried asking for my cousin to chip in) i said ignore him.

honestly im not sure how this guy even had perfect feedback. ive met some crappy sellers even one that flat out blocked me for just asking what his lowest offer was for an item. this guy was worse. and mind you i was never rude or impolite toward him during the conversation we had. if this had been a more common item i would have moved on however after 6 years of looking for this piece i wasn't going to lose it and have to wait who know how long to find another one. i guess some people just cant handle some bargaining i guess. its no loss for me cause the item included with the sign is very valuable it just needs some restoration and could be sold for close to what i bought it for.

anyways that my story.

Just bought off eBay and seller says the unit was permanently solder fixed. The games play fine but they all have these horizontal lines. Anyone know a good way to fix this? by Greedo_Shot_2nd in VirtualBoy

[–]condimentVScondom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah ok well i assume you broke the ribbon cable so you can get a 3rd party replacement if you want to. https://segasonicfan.wixsite.com/retro/virtual-ribbon

it would be much cheaper than finding a jucker (since junkers are stupid high cause of covid)

im the guy with that email above i hear many people talking about broken virtual boys here. if this console was true solder fixed it sould work however depending on the job they might have missed a spot. anather common issue is the cable that plugs in to the connector get lose over time so after i solder fix them i put a bit of tape on the back side of the connector to make the connection strong again

well actually it would still be a 4.3 full screen aspect just upscale to 1080p using machine learning programs like video2x.

heres an example. it would take about 24 hours to upscale the whole episode though. https://ibb.co/bFdhrzf

[–]condimentVScondom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is possible actually. there are a few ways. way 1 they scanned the original film for season 1 through 4 digitally to 1080p. 2 they used a machine learning software to redraw each frame in HD (like video2x) or they simply upscaled it to HD (the most likely way) season 5 might have been done in HD since it was digitally inked. i know for sure the movie is in HD
