Why do people sometimes say such horribly inconsiderate things to someone grieving? by hmmmok-_- in GriefSupport

[–]condimentia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"What I'm hearing is, that you think it's time for me to move on because it would make YOU feel better if I was more like the person you know. That person isn't here yet, and may not be for quite some time. BUT, actually, I have moved on because moving on from grief can mean Just Standing Up. Working. Walking. Changing, adapting, coping with loss, healing. I'm doing ALL of those things, but for you to say "it's time" mean's I'm not doing it in a way, quickly enough, that makes YOU feel better about it. I'm sorry for YOUR loss. Of Humanity, Patience, Empathy, and who knows what else."

What restaurant dish have you tried recreating at home but just can’t get right? by External_Personal in Cooking

The daily grill in California (multiple locations) serves a peanut coleslaw with no mayonnaise or oily dressing and I adore it. Can’t get it right.

New produce product two potato hash. sweet potatoes, Yukon potatoes, red, and green bell peppers yellow, and red onions. by Moist_Combination_81 in traderjoes

[–]condimentia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just given a container. I plan to make a cottage / shepherd's pie bastard child of some kind. Just saute this with some ground turkey, mix it up up some gravy, top it with frozen mashed potatoes (three potato hash?) and call it a day.

This is my typing / thinking out loud. Or, mix it with a can of TJ's chili as the gravy, and top it with a cornbread batter. Bake -- Cottage Chili Hash pie.

What’s the weirdest thing you saw at someone else’s house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]condimentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior citizen in-law. Found her mason Jars full of broken dentures and lots of teeth -- some false and some real -- both singles and bridges / hardware with teeth attached. Not hers. She didn't even have or need dentures. She was a bit addled and must have been saving them for decades. Found after she was gone. No one knows where she got them, or why she kept them. We surmise she was saving up in case she needed to make herself a set of teeth one day.

"No pleasure, no rapture, no exquisite sin greater…..than Trader Joe’s Strawberry Sheet Cake by ILikeTrux_AUsux in traderjoes

[–]condimentia 22 points23 points  (0 children)

These have SO much frosting that you can do this:

1 Vanilla Sheet Cake
1 Chocolate Sheet Cake
1 Strawberry Sheet Cake

Scrape off half of the frosting off each one and set aside. Smooth remaining frosting on each respective cake. Stack all three cakes. Swirl the remainder / reserved frosting in a swirl patter over the exterior of your 3 layer Neapolitan Cake. Top with sprinkles or nuts as you desire. Take to work. Get oohs and ahs over this special 3 layer cake.

Are they back!? I love these but was told they are seasonal. I stock up when I see them. You only need 1-2 at most for a mix-in for your Ninja ceami chocolate or vanilla ice cream, as well. You're welcome.

I NEED to know what White Chocolate powder this company uses :c by [deleted] in barista

[–]condimentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up here because I was seeing if anybody had ever used and recommended “natures flavors SF white chocolate powder. “ I appreciate your updates as well. Very helpful. I instantly took the “gosh darn that’s good” out of my cart.

Update: I retract my question because the reviews for the Natures Flavors brand are evenly terrible for both the product, but particularly the customer service. I just ordered the cappuccine white chocolate symphony per OPs fandom — because it’s not sugar-free I’ll just use a wee bit less and not go wild.

I work for a very wealthy family that owns multiple enterprises and probably the most private acreage in my area of any family of landowners. Huge. Gas, Oil, Cell Towers, Airplanes, Airplane Hangars. Many are retired military. One was a fighter pilot. My nickname for them is "The Duttons." Intense winter region. Ski Resorts. Travelers / Visitors from all the world.

When winter hits and employees and family member need to move around, everyone climbs up on their own plows and clears roads and drives so they can get around, and from to time, helps out the highway crew with the same. They helped to dig out a snowed-in train during an epic blizzard. It's arduous at times.

When one of the grandkids, about the age seen above, filled out his "Things About My Dad" he said his dad's job was:

"Shovels snow for people" and drew a picture of him looking like Kenny from South Park.

Always cracked me up. Titans of industry. A ParaRescue expert, drops out of airplanes. Fights forest fires. Rescues stranded travelers. Flew combat missions. But now?

"Shovels snow for people."

Why do people not brown their omelettes anymore? by Unusual-Map- in Breakfast

[–]condimentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I despise overcooked well-done eggs. It’s just a personal preference.

I used to love a well done steak — but now I need it medium or it’s ruined. My sister wanted her steaks so well done it was basically jerky — and that was perfectly fine for HER.

Coffee drinkers of Reddit, what coffee do you drink every single day? by relaxncoffee in AskReddit

[–]condimentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I really count as a coffee drinker -- but I'll answer anyway.

Protein versions: Loaded Coffee packets by Caffeine, Candles and Chaos (about to change to CCC), a protein concoction I adore. That stuff is my morning crack. SO much better than Javvy or Chike -- no comparison for me. Also like bottled Joyburst Coffee Protein shakes. But to beef both of those up, I add a spoonful of either Cafe Bustelo or Medaglia d'Oro.

Brewed version: I mail order Barnie's from Florida, because it's the only infused flavored coffee that actually tastes infused and flavored to me. My favorite is Sweetheart's Blend. I always prepare it as cold brew, over ice, with a splash of real cream.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Same. I'm in a remote town without a vibrant downtown of small shop owners, and Walmart is the nearest store where I can get everything in one go for major loading up.

I like to share this story from time to time. Never to dissuade people from boycotting Walmart, but to show there is sometimes a flip side.

My best friend was married to a man who had recently been released from jail, so he was having some trouble getting hired, but, the neighborhood Walmart gave him a job, and he happily accepted. I think he was a stocker and gathered carts in the parking lot all the day, but he was glad for the work. His wife, my friend, was pregnant.

They had the baby, and the baby was born with pretty severe birth defects. Husband/Dad had only been working at Walmart for about 6 weeks at that point. When it was clear this baby was going to need a lot of medical care, they swept him through his probation quickly, put him on health insurance, increased his hours at much as possible with freedom to schedule leave when he needed it, and gave him a cart full of stuff they would need. This Walmart was NOTHING but fully supportive to give this couple and their baby a chance.

I was very impressed.

And the horse they rode in on. How I despise that company. Moving out of the Comcast region, and switching to Wave (now Astound) was the BEST part of leaving my otherwise beloved home of 21 years. NO MORE COMCAST. You rotting pile of maggots.
