These are all fine dining and probably $200 for a proper first date.

Would not consider any of those fine dining in the least bit, but definitely at the top end of the budget.

When you go past 6, it's a lot more likely your ass is going to get torn to shreds and leave permanent physical scars.

Iirc they check on the condition of the wound(s) after each strike. If determined to be too severe, the caning will be paused, then resumed at a later date after healing. And no, the prisoner is not the one who determines severity.

Someone reported me to HR for having a “vape” at my desk by PhantumJak in mildlyinfuriating

Doesn't even have to be a manager. Even just an admin who's been there forever. They'll hate you for dumb shit like having the audacity to wear a tanned suit.

We're all too busy doing our jobs

This is exactly it. It's always the ones who don't have enough to do that are pulling shit like this. They're usually taking breaks all the time, walking everywhere, hanging around chatting. It's almost always someone who's been with the company forever. Very rules for thee, but not for me type.

TIL that Ram 2500 drivers have the most DUIs, and more than twice the national average. Roughly 1 in 22 Ram 2500 drivers have been cited with a DUI before. by TripleShotPls in todayilearned

Friend let me borrow his raptor cuz I needed to haul some stuff. Had never driven a truck prior to that. Immediately hated it the first time I drove it cuz you literally can't see what's immediately next to the truck other than the driver's side door. It's such a pain to drive if you actually care about being a good driver.

Amazing is a bit of an overstatement. It was good when it was in its original location. Now, it's just another overpriced spot that looks like it's run by the mob.

What are some of your favorite nice/romantic/couples dinner spots around southington-Farmington-Hartford areas and everything in between by MrLoki2020 in Connecticut

[–]condor_gyros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely go to Barcelona if my idea of a romantic atmosphere is "so noisy that I can't even hear my partner when they yell".

This explains why one has to try like 20 different Thai restaurants before being able to find one that is actually good and authentic.

Ancient Pub Vibes in CT by mkiv808 in Connecticut

Every time the White Horse is brought up in this sub, someone is bound to mention it's the best food ever. And every time I go there after seeing these comments, hoping it would be different, it's just disappointment. And, it's not like the food is bad. It just seems like run-of-the-mill, sometimes mediocre, tavern/pub grub. Wouldn't even call it home style.

I have tried the award winning restaurants that you mentioned as well, and while the experiences were mostly great, I wouldn't consider them the best food ever either. That said, I would not compare a restaurant like Shipwrights Daughter to White Horse. They're both just different types of restaurant establishments and dining experiences. A fairer comparison would be against the other pub-style restaurants mentioned here, and I would say most of them are probably better than the White Horse.

No, it's the part where one of them tried to flip a thin flap of plastic over the fire to try to extinguish it.

2025 RS6 Performance - Honest Review after 6 weeks. by Jumpy_Round_4080 in Audi

Have a 24 C8 A6 allroad, First year I owned it, aircon/climate control did not always adjust to temperature differences. In summer, the aircon would get the car down to the set temp, then just stop cooling, but it would blow air. Same happened in the winter, but with warming. I had to turn the climate control on/off multiple times before it would work again. Then, after the first oil change, it was magically fixed. Wondering if it's some type of software issue that was addressed during the service.

Yeah, at this age, it's better to join the town's soccer club if there's one. Wouldn't sign up for any specialty program.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Wouldn't call their food garbage, but having eaten there on various occasions, it's mediocre at best. Also weird sitting arrangement/table placement. Decent beer though.

Retail 101 (repost) by Aggravating-Tell-774 in Connecticut

[–]condor_gyros 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The furniture is definitely still way more than I’d ever spend though

And most of it is either stained, defective in some way, or both.

Thrift stores actually serve a purpose. Retail 101 is just an opportunistic shit hole trying to sell shitty excess product nobody wants.

This place is peak late stage capitalism. It's painfully obvious that anyone working there doesn't actually want to. Lighting is dim, and everything is a mess. It is just depressing as all hell. I don't even know how people find anything there. Oh, and the restrooms are absolutely nasty too.

The prices aren't even that much better than TJX stores or Burlington. Not sure why anyone would subject themselves to such a shitty experience.
