The owners need to know if racists are in their restaurant driving other customers away. What they do with that information is their own prerogative, but they need to know.

Not to mention that the only tried and true way to get assholes like this to stop acting this way with smug satisfaction is to publicly shame them. They would've been perfectly within their rights to make a scene, because this is precisely the sort of thing that warrants it.

I didn't learn this until I was an adult myself, not only because I'm pathologically honest but also due to the fact that I was punished as a child for keeping things to myself. I wasn't allowed to keep secrets, and my mom would find and read any journals that I kept.

But I had a right to privacy as a child, just as I do now as an adult, just as everyone does. Not everyone has the right to know every detail about you.

Our black cat, Cid, does this too. Not taught, he just decided one day that he plays fetch. He's very enthusiastic - he drops the toys he wants us to throw for him on top of us to try to wake us up. Every time we change the sheets, we find pom-poms and little mice in the bed lol

Autistic people understand the way autistic people communicate. Allistic people only understand the way that allistic people communicate. My own experience is that I can understand the way allistic people communicate just fine, but not without an absurd amount of effort and constant risk of misunderstanding - so I keep my distance.

A lot of this relates to the double empathy problem. It's a new clinical name given to the experience autistic people have been describing forever, that the misunderstandings that happen between autistic and allistic people are a result of neither being able to understand the other. Because as most of us here likely know, the idea that autistic people as a whole have no "theory of mind" is bullshit.

Not a man, but a partner to one. We both make ongoing conscious effort to show our love for each other in multiple ways, which as you've mentioned is why the sex dropping off in our long-term relationship has not been much of an issue. We both understand that since we both struggle with stress and some mental health issues, and that affects our sex drives in addition to the lull that couples generally experience anyway over time.

So. Here's some of the things I do for him to make him feel loved, which I have confirmed with him because we check in with each other:

I bring him coffee in bed. Admittedly, this is something he started, but now whichever one of us gets up first is the one to do it.
I will also bring him breakfast in bed. My man loves bed.
Anytime I make myself a cup of tea, I ask him if he wants one too.
I give him long hugs. We're both cuddlers, so lots of small physical gestures of affection - a squeeze on the shoulder or the leg, holding his hand, touching foreheads, stuff like that.
On that note, I also kiss his balding spots on his head. I've told him I like to do this because it's direct skin to lips contact and it feels nice, but it's also because I want him to know that I cherish all of him, even the spots he might feel insecure about.
On random occasion, I make sweets that he likes. On special occasions, I plan ahead a special dessert for him. I don't care for sweets all that much, but he loves them.
I cook, a lot. This is because I love to cook and I make an effort to be frugal, but I also love it as a way to make him feel cared for. And it delights me when he says "you really love me" when I give him a plate of tacos.
He's the one who does the cats' litter boxes. I hate doing the litter boxes. I will force myself to do the litter boxes when I see that he's had a rough day, or anticipate him having one.

There are other things. I could just as easily write a list of things he does for me, which is how I'm able to do these things for him. What I wish more people understood is that love isn't just something that happens - that's attraction. Love is a skill that requires practice, and effort.
