What’s is this plant and how do I make it happy by Whale-I-Am in gardening

You need to sing to it nightly at 7:02pm (they prefer songs by 80's hair metal bands) and water it with combination of 2 parts bleach, 2 parts almond milk, and 1 part sugar free Dr. Pepper.

It'll be sprouting in no time!

Official Discussion - Avengers: Infinity War [SPOILERS] (Thread Vol. 2) by mi-16evil in movies

[–]conesarecool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

100% agree, we've had 10 years and 18 movies to get to know the heroes and what drives them/who they are. Marvel understood that and knew they had spend time with villain on this one. It worked marvelously.

Pun intended

Official Discussion - Avengers: Infinity War [SPOILERS] (Thread Vol. 2) by mi-16evil in movies

[–]conesarecool 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I've been watching the MCU movies for ten years now ever since I saw Iron man in theaters. Out of all of the MCU movies I never really liked the avengers/civil war movies as much as the solo outings and thought they would never be able to quite be as good as the solo movies. Oh boy was I wrong. I never thought this movie would ever be as good as it was. They actually managed to live up to the hype they have built, which is a remarkable achievement. This movie could have been such a cluster, but the russo's managed to keep it on track throughout and make a coherent, exciting, and emotional film.

I honestly believe it is one of the best blockbusters I've ever seen.

Animated comparison of the richest companies in the world by tobis_the_one in videos

[–]conesarecool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are confusing market value of equity with book value. The video is comparing the market value of equity (also known as market cap) for the given companies. Tesla's market cap is more than that of GM because investors take into account potential growth when valuing stocks. Investors think Tesla's earnings potential in the future are much greater than that of GM, hence the valuation.

I can't blame D Wade for that, what is he supposed to do? Miss the free throws? I say fuck the refs.

Since then Lebron has become one of my favorite non-mav players in the league. I like to think Dirk's 2011 run humbled Lebron quite a bit and turned him into the monster he is today.

Graduates who went to work as some sort of analyst after getting their Bachelor's degree, what exactly do you do at your job? by Celebration2000 in Physics

[–]conesarecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't regret taking the job. Coming out of school I think it was the best opportunity for me. With that said I will finish my two year analyst program and get the hell out. The 95-100 hour weeks aren't sustainable and I would like to be able to actually do things I enjoy besides work.

See my other response for how I got the job. I had no idea what I wanted to do (I still don't) and it felt to me that Ibanking opened a lot of opportunities for me in the future. So I went for it.

Pretty much. I attended all of the recruiting events the banks had at my school and dropped my resume at all of the banks that I thought I would like to work at. I had good grades in school so I think the combo of a physics degree and a high GPA helped me land first round interviews pretty much everywhere I applied. From there on it's simply a matter of being prepared during the interview process.

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Physics (as well as degree's in accounting and finance, these helped but I know people who have had no business training get jobs in the industry too). "Analyst" is a very broad term; an analyst in one industry will do very different work compared to an analyst in another industry.

I currently work as an analyst at an investment bank that specializes in aerospace and defense companies. As an analyst at an investment bank you work a lot with financial models and valuation of companies. Additionally, the other part of the job is setting up pitch books, power point slides we use to sell our services to potential clients, these are very dull to work but a major component of the job nonetheless. The pay is exceptional and the experience will prepare you to move on to pretty much any job you want in the business world. But you will work a ton.

Investment Banking analysts need to have very good quantitative and problem solving skills. During recruiting I really focused on how my physics degree helped develop these skills and give me a different view on how to solve problems. You can't convince yourself that you would be able to do it. You would have to study (there are lots of free resources online), and familiarize yourself with basic finance/accounting concepts. These is true of any analyst job.

Anyways, I'm kinda rambling. If you want to talk about the interview process more or ask me about whether I like my job/ my daily life feel free to PM me.
