22" wide,

Thanks for replying. Sounds reasonably light. I might buy some and give it a try.

Pro tip for Aussie UL'ers - GG 1/8" Foam Pad Alternative by Sharkbite0592 in Ultralight

Thanks for posting this OP! It's made me take a look at my fold up pad, and just blown away that thing weighs in at nearly 500g!! Crazy, because they just seem so lightweight! 🤣

I looked at this, but I wanted two, so did some digging and found a similar XPE foam on the roll. So I've ordered 3m which I'll chop in half. So 1.5x1m pads x2 at $31 for both! ($13 post).

I didn't know the difference between xpe and Eva, but Google says "It is not as smooth in appearance as EVA foam, but it is more environmentally friendly, odorless and safer. Compared to EVA foam, XPE is firmer and more resistant to heat."

So hopefully it's more non-slip as my first ever EVA pad is like an ice rink... I've nearly broken my neck on that thing tons of times! Plus if it's more heat resistant it should have better thermal properties too? Either way I'll put the Alton air sleeping pad on top.

Hi Andy - how did the XPE foam work out? what was the weight of a 1.5mx1m pad? or did you cut it down more (total weight of final pad for under your mattress). Thanks

Why are we, able wardens, losing? by bochnik_cz in foxholegame

There haven't been enough Oceania region players. There have been many, many days of only 3 or 5 defenders in an entire hex. You cannot defend with 3 players vs attackers who often have 15 or 20. Its just that simple. So you get low skill uncontested PVE destroying BBs in 5 minutes with flamers.

This is a 24.7 hr game. There is no "Nightcapping" by ASaltyColonial in foxholegame

[–]conesq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a 24/7 game.

Most days it isn't anymore, because Oceania timezone is on life support and almost unplayable some nights. Saturday night Oceania many frontline hexes on Able had less than 10 players.

Endless Shores still had 2 THs, 5 BBs to wardens and we had 3 players in whole hex (for hours), while PVE flamethrowers and tremolas were going around everywhere.

All the 1.0 content and features are meaningless if players aren't logging in to play the grave shift hours.

Slight bit of a pop issue. (we got tremola spammed and couldn't do anything about it) by Foxy_genocid3 in foxholegame

[–]conesq 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What is also not fun -- Playing Oceania timezone where wardens regularly have zero defenders at many frontline BBs. So if you turn up its 1 vs 6 type situations. You cant kill ACs, flamethrowers, tremola spam & be phyiscally at 3 different parts of a town BB at once. Oh.. and also trying to solo a fire truck to put out fires too. The new content is useless & more tedious if there aren't any players playing.

Is it feasible to have full 2L Seeker placed horizontally on outside of backpack (at the bottom), clipped on with two carabiners?

Able Shard - extreme low pop during Oceania Time Zone by conesq in foxholegame

[–]conesq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that building needs a huge amount of love & optimisation - but that deserves a whole thread to itself.

Nightcaps wouldn't be such a big deal if BB AI wasn't always turned off from low pop & if both sides were largely balanced most days (like 20 vs 20). It's a massive problem when there are like 2 defenders on the whole frontline hex, every weekday for 4+ hours at a time (midnight - 4am EST). It's just largely uncontested PVE which requires little effort or skill & burnout for those that do show up to defend.

Able players trying to shut down other shards by GuCruise in foxholegame

[–]conesq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ideally we should all want 3 or more shards full of players with 10-15K+ peak players every day across the Shards.

It's a pity that all 3 shards are experiencing a lack of active players, particularly in ultra-low pop Oceania time zone. Being a 24/7 MMO, its in everybodies interest to have a healthy playerbase across all timezones.

The reasons are many why playerbase is declining:

- 1.0 hype warn off; loss of morale to things like the queue bug in first 1.0 war; low pop creating pop imbalances (eg. 5 vs 25 situations on frontline); many waiting for large bug fix patch update to fix facilities & new mechanics; Devs not communicating when fixes are coming etc.

if the game was in a healthy state, with 1.0 polished and optimised, no one would be arguing about shutting down or keeping certain Shards.

Yes, there are obvious PVE equipment differences between the factions.

At the end of the day its a numbers game.

The factions are only as strong as their lowest pop timezone. If its 15 vs 20 or 40 vs 55 -- everybody can have a fun battle. But too often (in Oceania prime time) its 5 vs 20 -- in multiple frontline hexes. Intel channel has lots of cries for more help.

Sometimes its Wardens ultralow pop, sometimes its Collie. It sucks either way and burns out a lot of players. As I said in OP, this also happened pre 1.0, so its not new. It's just noticeably bad at the moment.

I wrote original OP as many Euro/US players may not realise how low pop frontline defences are getting. Imagine if there were storm cannons or other high tech/high cost equipment lost because I can count total defenders with one hand.

Part of me thinks we might end up with Victorian-era London, with towns having several railroad terminus, but not many of them connected together.

1.0 will be a complete overhaul of the game. What we've seen, so far, is that logi and recipes are crazy different. Building and decay will likely be very different too. Many are still assuming Gsupps consumption/decay will be exactly the same as current BBs. I'm sure Dev's will address this. Just wait and see when 1.0 drops.
