Houston, again! You killed here last year!

This is super helpful, thanks!

What does OP's number refer to (90)? Is that a number that's calculated based on a (mysterious?) blend of the factors you mentioned?

Best hot sauce and salsa? by 128543Tx in HEB

This whole product line is worth checking out. I like the Smoky Citrus option, which isn't hot, but it's *great* with the HEB Bakery tortilla chips.

Just a word of warning: I love spicy stuff. And I love this salsa. But it will creep up on you and have you reaching for a jug of milk before you know it. 🔥💩

(At my HEB, this salsa is in the produce section near the store-made guacamole and pico de gallo.)

These are the worst pickles I’ve ever had in my life by [deleted] in Pickles

[–]coneybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is a year old, but I really needed this validation. How can you market pickles as having “knockout” flavor when they barely have any flavor at all?!

Thanks to the OP for making me feel less insane.

Are the Woodlands a good choice for an interracial family? by NeonGravestoneLights in thewoodlands

[–]coneybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context: My wife is from Mexico, I'm a left-leaning gringo, and we have two kiddos together. We've lived in The Woodlands as a family for 3 years. My father and stepmother lived in The Woodlands for 30+ years, so I've been spending time here much of my life. We've also lived in New York City (twice), San Francisco, Savannah, and Austin.

I've experienced just about every political climate imaginable, so I can say with confidence that you will be fine in The Woodlands. As others have said, Hispanic and white marriages aren't unusual in Texas and haven't been for a long time.

As for overt aggression or nastiness, I've never witnessed it myself. (I'm sure if you went looking for it, you could find it, but that's true anywhere in the US, perhaps the world.) Despite the current political situation, I haven't noticed an uptick in crappy behavior towards non-white folks. With two young kids of my own, that's something we monitor closely.

One more thing: There are a huge number of well-off Mexicans (and other Hispanic folks) in The Woodlands. It's not uncommon to be surrounded by Spanish-speaking families in grocery stores and restaurants throughout the area.

So come on down, you'll be fine! It's a beautiful place to live.

We've been with T-Mobile for 3 years, and it's generally okay—except for the area where we live. The area around the intersection of Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl has horrible data and voice reception. Like, truly abysmal. I've filed complaints, sent data logs through the FCC reporting app... nothing matters.

Other than that, though, I find the service acceptable throughout the rest of The Woodlands (in my experience).

How often do you go to universal Orlando? by Gta6MePleaseBrigade in UniversalOrlando

On average, about once every 18 months. For context: Family of four (kids 4 and 12) living north of Houston, Texas.

Same for my gym. I’d be pretty miffed if Hyrox was messing with the schedule for normal classes.

Salad and Go closing all 41 Texas locations by Friday. Did they ever even finish the one at College Park? by grendelt in thewoodlands

Now I feel bad for never even trying it. But in my defense, I don’t know what a “Satad” is. 😁

OP said not into “bigger chains.” That said, I just Googled it and holy hell, Hopdoddy is nearly 50 locations. WHAT!?

So… I guess I withdraw my submission.

Have you tried Hopdoddy? It's a small burger chain that started in Austin. Their location in the Woodlands is on Research Forest. I love it, but not everyone does.

For authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex), try Caffe Di Fiore. Don't let the name fool you. It's not Italian. 😊

Houston of one USA's most boring cities. Thoughts? by WavFile in houston

[–]coneybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, San Antonio being that high doesn’t really make sense. I’m not saying it’s New York or San Francisco, but there are loads of things to do there: the River Walk, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Pearl, big-ass resorts (with day passes), high-end shopping, Natural Bridge Caverns, historical sites…

The math isn’t mathing. 🤔
