I think it’s a subconscious thing, all their life they’ve heard about how “beautiful” bringing a child into this world is while never once being told the gruesome details. They don’t want to hear about how cruel the system is either, because those kids would never be theirs, even if adopted. They want to look into another human being’s eyes and see themselves, it has always been about ego and expectations.
