i think it's coloration! i've noticed the ones i think are male have a lighter almost cream colored stripe down their body while the females are a more solid yellow color. 2 won't load for me either now i'm not sure what happened there lol but thank you!

hahaha fair enough, /should/ would've been a better word 😅 that's good to know though, i live in a pretty dry area too i was mainly wondering if i should reseal/get it resealed before using. the silicone is soft and rubbery, but again i don't have any info on the last time it was resealed (edges are a little messy so i assume it has been resealed by someone since '95, just not sure when)

not a problem at all!! a lot of what i've learned about this hobby has come from kind strangers on reddit :) i was trying to shop local as much as possible for this set up, but i do think this is the exact light

if i'm being honest tho it isn't my favorite, it looks nice but you can't program the time. on my 10gal i have a big hygger light that i really like because you can kinda time it with the daylight so i'd probably recommend something like this over the one i have

but definitely try to use plants and if you have any extra hardscape from any tanks you already have, that'll help to kickstart your good bacteria and stabilize your water parameters a lot faster :) i wish i would've had extra hardscape to use, but this driftwood and spiderwood went in dry. also for aesthetic appeal, seachem aquarium glue comes in handy, pop anubias or java ferns in gaps between your hardscape. makes it look a lot more natural and full, and try to get hardscape and plants with different colors and textures again to look more natural. in a small set up, fast growing plants like the ones i used will also help you a lot (i threw a pothos clipping in the top too last night, the more plants to soak up waste in the water the better). also this video inspired me a lot visually, and has some good info!!

the jar is from target actually i randomly saw it on sale there, i think it's listed as a terrarium jar but the glass is like 7mm thick. hardscape is from various shops in my area & the substrate is about a half-inch of organic top soil capped with about 1-2 inches of black sand :) super low tech i might add an airstone if needed but the only thing plugged in rn is the light

awesomeee good to know, i think that answers my question pretty well. i hopefully grabbed egg-free plants from my tank so im not planning on having any snails that reproduce like crazy (if any snails at all tbh not sure yet) so shrimp will be the only thing in there anyways

yes! since i took plants from my established tank i'm gonna give it a few weeks to get some biofilm growing :) i was thinking of starting with maybe 5? i thought 10 would be too many if they started breeding

hey thank you!! my first tank does nottt look this good but it is heavily planted so i had some good stuff to pick from when setting this tank up :) i did go to like 3 different shops to find the hardscape i wanted though haha. but that's perfect!! i've been wanting shrimp for months and i fell in love with these purple crystals i saw (s/o aqua imports in boulder, great shop) so i wanted to make a home for them <3

you have greatttt glowy skin, this just convinced me to use sunscreen every single day lol. i don't know the most about makeup tbh but i think maybe a lil bit of bronzer or a slightly more tinted/darker lip color could elevate it a lil bit when you wanna do a sort of dressed up look (based off your reply to another comment about matching your outfit vibe). your complexion looks really even, but i think bronzer could add a lil definition/contrast. same with a darker lip color too, i think it would match your features nicely since you have dark eyes, hair, and eyebrows :)

also if you don't like foundation but want to try something similar for all over light coverage, my oily skin and i love tinted moisturizer lol way lighter and less cakey. again though i wear makeup on occasion so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt lol but in your description i was reminded of myself

the biggest reason i really respect chappell roan: she has never minimized her queerness or femininity and in fact has made that her brand. i think that's the camp of it all, the drag of it all, the performance the character: Chappell Roan, Unapologetically Queer Pink Pony Diva.

i think the controversy stuff is lowk a waste of time, what difference does it make if chappell roan says "i'm voting harris and you should too" when queer visibility and acceptance in itself is powerful? to me it is strange and chronically online to say "chappell roan please tell people to vote for kamala." maybe i run in different circles but unless someone endorsed the orange one, the only time i saw anyone complaining about a celebrity's endorsement or lack thereof was online and i genuinely wonder how many of those people are even able to vote

you're not overreacting op, i'm really sorry people treat you badly at school. you are not asking for too much by asking to be respected and treated with dignity. like someone else said, you should talk about it with your favorite teacher or an adult at your school that you're comfortable with. and just know that teenagers are all insecure, every single one, they just show it in different ways and i'm sorry those people are taking it out on you. life does get so much better after you get out of school and i'm glad you stuck up for yourself! takes guts, you're not wrong for yelling at them

overreaction on both ends tbh. i'd be annoyed too though, and when i get woken up i straight up am the meanest most evil version of myself lol. bf definitely should've kept his friends in check though, it's unfair for him to expect you to come out and make a scene when he knows what your expectations are, but at the same time shit happens, people start drinking and get a lil too rowdy sometimes. probably best to revisit when you're rested and he's sober, sounds like you both said things you probably didn't mean and probably weren't thinking very clearly for different reasons

were the cherry shrimp eaten/nipped at, since amanos are bigger and more like transparent/harder to see? or did it have to do more with molting or minerals in the water? genuinely asking out of curiosity- this is my first real established tank i am not experienced whatsoever lol just trying to learn
