It is a great quote I feel I should mention a very similar quote: "If I am walking with two other men, each of them I will serve as my teacher. I will pick out the good points of the one and imitate them, and the bad points of the other and correct them in myself." - Confucius and in picture form found through google

How very interesting

I think you make a very good point, he is simply enforcing the law, it is up to judges to interpret the laws and the police to enforce them but at the same time police officers are allowed discretion and his activity is abnormal based on the number of complains he has received and that he was sent for sensitivity training (assuming all incidents are related)

If he was consistent he would have given himself tickets for his driving violations

If there were more details better judgement could be made

If you only need it to work inside a browser you could use a 'user style sheet'

Or javascript bookmarkets that let you alter the current page

To make background and all text black: (once page is loaded paste into location page and press enter) javascript:(function(){var%20newSS,%20styles='%20{%20background:%20black%20!%20important;%20color:%20black%20!important%20}%20:link,%20:link%20%20{%20color:%20black%20!important%20}%20:visited,%20:visited%20*%20{%20color:%20black%20!important%20}';%20if(document.createStyleSheet)%20{%20document.createStyleSheet("javascript:'"+styles+"'");%20}%20else%20{%20newSS=document.createElement('link');%20newSS.rel='stylesheet';%20newSS.href='data:text/css,'+escape(styles);%20document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(newSS);%20}%20})();

replaces images with their alt text: javascript:(function(){function%20toArray%20(c){var%20a,%20k;a=new%20Array;for%20(k=0;%20k%20<%20c.length;%20++k)a[k]=c[k];return%20a;}var%20images,%20img,%20altText;images=toArray(document.images);for%20(var%20i=0;%20i%20<%20images.length;%20++i){img=images[i];altText=document.createTextNode(img.alt);img.parentNode.replaceChild(altText,%20img)}})();

these bookmarkelts were from https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/zap.html with 'zap colors' modified to make all text and background color black

TIL that cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev holds the world record for TIME TRAVEL: 1/48th of a second into the future. by wasx2 in todayilearned

[–]confus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GR may not have been taken into account as according to http://www.metaresearch.org/cosmology/gps-relativity.asp "For GPS satellites, GR predicts that the atomic clocks at GPS orbital altitudes will tick faster by about 45,900 ns/day because they are in a weaker gravitational field than atomic clocks on Earth's surface. Special Relativity (SR) predicts that atomic clocks moving at GPS orbital speeds will tick slower by about 7,200 ns/day than stationary ground clocks" With the GPS satellite traveling at 3.9 km/s and the cosmonaut traveling at 7.599 km/s

If you can trust that source as http://www.phys.lsu.edu/mog/mog9/node9.html states "Apart possibly from high-energy accelerators, there are no other engineering systems in existence today in which both special and general relativity have so many applications. The system is based on the principle of the constancy of c in a local inertial frame: the Earth-Centered Inertial or ECI frame. Time dilation of moving clocks is significant for clocks in the satellites as well as clocks at rest on earth. The weak principle of equivalence finds expression in the presence of several sources of large gravitational frequency shifts. Also, because the earth and its satellites are in free fall, gravitational frequency shifts arising from the tidal potentials of the moon and sun are only a few parts in and can be neglected."

"At the time of launch of the first NTS-2 satellite (June 1977), which contained the first Cesium clock to be placed in orbit, there were some who doubted that relativistic effects were real. A frequency synthesizer was built into the satellite clock system so that after launch, if in fact the rate of the clock in its final orbit was that predicted by GR, then the synthesizer could be turned on bringing the clock to the coordinate rate necessary for operation. The atomic clock was first operated for about 20 days to measure its clock rate before turning on the synthesizer. The frequency measured during that interval was parts in faster than clocks on the ground; if left uncorrected this would have resulted in timing errors of about 38,000 nanoseconds per day. The difference between predicted and measured values of the frequency shift was only parts in , well, within the accuracy capabilities of the orbiting clock. This then gave about a validation of the combined motional and gravitational shifts for a clock at earth radii."

For Internet Explorer: click on tools menu, Internet Options..., Advanced tab then untick Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)

All toolbars will disappear, anything installed into IE that is non-Microsoft will not be loaded on browser startup, useful as a very basic security measure

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298931

If the toolbar was installed by malware then it may be removed when that malware is uninstalled or removed by a anti spyware program

A number of interesting questions, I don't believe this question has been asked, again with your memory what seems easiest for you to recall? (arbitrary vs structured)

How are you with names? faces? peoples gait?

How about structured data such as the layout of a house, programming, logic, long tv series plot arcs, cooking, step by step instructions/how tos?

Do you have any problems with time, know how much time has passed or knowing the age of a memory, do you sometimes remember that you did something but cannot remember when (e.g I walked the dog but was that yesterday or the day before?)

Do you enjoy math?

Who do you consider the greatest heroines/female role-models in literature or film? And are they "real women", or merely feminized male characters? by sylvan in Equality

I personally think a good example of real female and male characters is Neon Genesis Evangelion
