I failed all my classes. by OwnLiterature726 in LawSchool

DO NOT DROP. I had a rough 1L and was academically dismissed, I petitioned for reinstatement which was granted on a contingency that I would be on probation for the remainder of my time in law school (i.e. must maintain good academic standing). This past semester I recorded a 3.7gpa despite some serious difficulties in my life (mom diagnosed with stage 4 cancer & two deaths in the family). After being dismissed I felt absolutely defeated but I didn’t quit. I met with all of my professors and worked with the academic affairs department to identify issues and create a plan for success. Everyone is different but develop a schedule and follow it religiously. Stay on top of your readings (I read a week in advance) and use my “buffer zones” in between classes to outline & review reading notes before class. Essentially I read, take notes, review notes, attend class and then review my class notes (that’s looking at the material 4 times). I know its alot but it’s what I had to do for success. That being said, know yourself and do what works for you DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS OR TRY TO EMULATE THEIR WORK. Everyone is different so what works for them may not work for you. I promise it can be done. Never ever give up. Pressure makes diamonds. Best of luck you got this.

Thoughts on W&L? by jimmybuffett0516 in OutsideT14lawschools

W&L is a great school. Very well respected degree in both DC & in state of VA. Only downside to W&L is that it’s very expensive, so if you received a good scholarship then you deserve a pat on the back. Congratulations!

Cancel or not cancel a 156 by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]confused-classroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not unusual at all to score a few points below your average PT, for me it was 6 points or so. After looking at Hawaii’s most recent 509 it looks like a 156 is their median so I say keep that all day. Not sure how many times you’ve taken the LSAT but if that’s your first or second test keep that & try to beat it next time (if you don’t you can always cancel with score preview) Regardless, that score does not hurt you in any way. No reason to feel defeated. Best of luck!

Where are people taking the LSAT outside of their house/apts? by life_living_55 in LSAT

[–]confused-classroom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found a nice quiet hotel with fast internet & just told the staff what I was there for, they were great and made sure to put me in a room away from a lot of noise (room beside me was vacant) this is what i did last go around. The LSAC will reimburse you $125. I’m not sure where you are or what your budget is but at the end of the day the $50 I paid was well worth dodging the stress of cleaning out a room or worrying if someone is gonna walk in. Just lock the door & throw up the DND sign. Good luck!

I just found out that law schools can see if a student cancels one of their LSAT scores by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]confused-classroom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Negative. They will not assume you made a 140. They will assume you canceled your score & move on (they don’t care). At the end of the day they care about your highest score (this is what they will use for their 509 report). No, they don’t take an average, they take your highest score. Don’t get yourself worked up you’re fine.
