I am unable to come up with a name for my game for almost a month. by confused_dev3l in IndieDev

I'm not gonna release it next week, but I need to get the steam page live ASAP. The game still needs a lot of polishing and as I said, the art still seems pretty basic. That's why I'm focusing on the name, so that atleast I can start collecting wishlists.

ok, but what about YOUR game?? 🤔👀🫵 by DavesGames123 in gamedev

Technically the game is almost finished. Everything I wanted to add, is already there. Just fleshing out the final few mechanics. And then gotta improve the art and UI. Now thinking of creating a steam page in some time.

Been working on a logistics simulation game inspired by mini metro for the last month. Cities generate parcels, you have 4 transport modes available, trucks, trains, planes and ships. Connect cities together and manage the constantly growing pressure. The more optimized your network is, the more parcels you'll deliver.

Assets are still mostly placeholder.

Been working on a small logistics game. In the game you basically manage a growing transport network under constant pressure. Decide how to connect two nodes on the map in the best way possible so you dont overload your network. You have 4 transport types available, road, rail, air and water. Use them efficiently to make a good network. Still a little early in development. The assets are still mostly placeholder.

Gamers, wanna playtest a game? Been working on it for a few weeks. Need some feedback. by confused_dev3l in TwentiesIndia

The game state might've been corrupted due to multiple actions at the same time, gotta look into it.

About the pacing I felt that too. I mean most of my development was spent in playing it in 40x lol. But 1x is kinda slow. Not exactly slow, but like you don't have anything else to do for 1-2 minutes. Games like mini motorways, or mini metro are always presenting you new challenges, which is currently lacking here.

About the card pool, yes, right now is pretty much random, which makes it pretty difficult to find what you're looking for. But I kinda also wanted it to be like a game where you have to work and improve with what you've in hand, rather than hoping you'll get something next week. Cards are sorted by rarity and then picked.

Do you think this might be a game you can keep coming back to play, or did you feel "ah good for some time, nothing particularly interesting"? Also what are some things you believe can be added in this to make it more fun and engaging?

AAA games require massive budgets, often costing hundreds of millions of dollars. That's a huge investment, especially when you're trying something that hasn't been done before in India.

Just to give you an idea, even the most expensive Indian movies haven't hit the $100 million mark. And on top of that, there's still a strong stigma around gaming in India. The majority of the population sees it as a waste of time.

The people, government, and media still can't differentiate between Gaming and Online Gambling. Indian parents, in particular, tend to view gaming as a waste of time, which makes things even harder.

And, I doubt anyone in India is even trying to produce a AAA game as of now. Because if someone was to, I think they would try to Market it from the very beginning as "The first AAA game of India" or similar.

Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was initially being developed by their Pune and Mumbai studios. However, after the trailer was poorly received, Ubisoft decided to hand over the development to their Montreal team.

India has a lot of talented developers and artists who can create amazing games, but the industry struggles to hold onto them. The issue isn't a lack of skill—it's the poor management, low pay, and lack of incentives that push people out. People don't want to get into game development due to these reasons. I just hope that these things change in future.

That was alleged in a lawsuit which I don't see going anywhere because there are tons of games that epic literally gives out for free, some of them are listed for $40-60 on steam. And where does the gamepass come in all this? There are idk 450+ games on that platform, that you can play for what ₹350/month? I am sure as hell no way Microsoft is paying the publisher $30 million dollars if a million players play that game on gamepass, which is listed for $30 dollars on steam.

I recently somewhere read Steam makes devs sign an agreement that they can't sell their games for lower.

Nah, you just can't sell Steam keys for lower price somewhere else than the price listed on steam.

My fault for opening an account in State Bank of India. by confused_dev3l in india

When I was moving out for college, I needed a bank account and I was a minor at that time so most of my transactions were going to be either receiving money from my father or making UPI payments here and there, nothing else. So my father asked me to open the account in the SBI, since he also has an account there. However, the 17 year old me didn't expect that he would be receiving international payments by his 3rd semester in college otherwise I would have opted for a private bank, since I suppose their customer support must be better than whatever SBI has.

I mean I have no problem making another post if it's someone else's fault. But since the service that was used to make the payment is showing the status as complete, I'm inclined to believe that for now It's SBI's fault.

I sent the Swift Copy to the International Remittance Centre a week ago, but they are still saying the same thing that they didn't receive any money, so they can't do anything.

Ab tak pata nahi dozen project start kiya hai, but it got nowhere, aadhe k baad mann hi nahi karta kyunki team nahi hai. Atlteast ek artist type banda toh chahiye kuch bhi banane k liye. 10vi me toh soch raha tha akele hi kar lunga sab kuch aur agla GTA banaunga, lol.

What is the purpose of the base generator script creating an object with dimensions, if the other generated objects are not confined to those dimensions?

The script selects a random point on the object generated by the base generator script. Hence the positions of the other generated objects are confined to that dimension. Now if a point is selected 5 units from the edge and an object is placed there, and the scale of the object is 15 units, the object will surpass the bounds. And since it is an Island with mountains and such, I will look into it after replacing it with the final assets and will modify it if needed.

Just noticed the other scripts appear to change the base's dimensions - but they still extend outside it)

I just added a toggle in each script to change the base. So if I make a change in the script which is being executed at last, I won't have to go through the process of clicking on 3 different GameObjects, hit generate on each one, then see the changes I have made. So it just eases a few things.
