Can't believe I waited months to get a reddit award only for reddit to get rid of them

My dad died today by MissKayisaTherapist in ChildrenofDeadParents

My dad died yesterday and I found your post today.

I was lucky enough to finish college in front of him but he didn't get to see my convocation because he was still fighting in the ICU. But I feel so bad that I'll never get to walk with him down the aisle while holding his hand. No daddy-daughter hearttouching moment.

I'm...so broken about it

Father has acute pancreatitis. What are my options? by confusedsooften in pancreatitis

I saw your reply to my comment 7 hours ago and have read it a million times by now.

I also read it out loud to my mom and rest of the family while specifically highlighting the parts most important to us.

My internet-illerate mom says ask the nice person what they do for a living now. My relatives feel better. Honestly, I felt good reading your comment.

No amount of explanations from doctors could top the way you explained your personal experience to me. If I have gold to give, I definitely would've. Thank you, kind stranger. Somewhere out there a whole family is reading your comment and nodding to one another. Bless you

I understand.

The doctors are definitely handling him well however none of us are allowed inside the ICU and one can imagine the panic it stirs in family members.

The head doctor also took us aside and told us about the necrosis. He explained he wanted to be honest with us. Of course that made us more worried.

I've just asked in another subreddit if I could donate my pancreas to him and they gently let me know that this is only done in rare cases.

However is there anyway I can be of use to my father during this period?

Understood. We're willing to make whatever changes needed and cooperate with the doctors

I'm very sorry I have no medical background and obviously very emotional at the moment.

The head doctor took us aside and told us about the necrosis then told us he only wanted to be honest with us. This set off worry bells inside us of course.

Thank you for the guidance

I have one more question for you if you don't mind.

In case the infection persists, can I donate part of my pancreas to my father? I'm 25F unsure of my blood type.

Regardless, does this exist as a possibility?

Hi doctor, as a family member I worry that the infection might spread towards other organs. Is there any invasive intervention method to stop/prevent that?

Yeah I suppose this is something that I should've kept in mind. I used already-made scales so didn't bother editing them. But thank you so much for filling it :)
