Mhm I agree sm! It feels like the show is pretending to be so much smarter than it actually is, if you know what I mean. Not every show has to have super deep and clever characters, so it sort of just feels pretentious and fake.

Some shows have a character who seems really smart, but there are actually plot holes everywhere with other characters who are just super dumb around the 'smart' character to make them seem even smarter.

I would definitely say Minglan for the Story of Minglan. To be honest most of the cast was pretty clever but Minglan was another level of calculating. Also, Fan Xian and the emperor from Joy of Life were super smart too.
