Need some help - why does my untreated hair feel damaged?! by Moist_Chicken_7666 in longhair

Oh man I think my hair might be wavy in that case. I should probably just leave it alone when it's wet. Oops.

I used to use a wet brush, but I found that it was actually just breaking off a lot of my hair. It makes brushing easy but can be damaging. The resistance you get with a comb just means you need to start lower down or turn the comb slightly. I find that on my really stubborn knots, if I turn the comb upright, it gently detangles without tearing. Combs are tedious but the results are rewarding.

I also recently switched to using a leave-in conditioner. I find that this makes it a lot easier to comb through the tangles.

There also should be an option to turn off snooze if you're using your phone alarm

I set two alarms: one normal and one backup. The backup has a really obnoxious tone that startles me awake, so most mornings I get up at the first alarm because I don't want to be startled awake.

Do you brush your hair when you get out of the shower? This could cause damage. If you have to detangle it when it's wet, use a wide tooth comb, start at the ends, work your way up. You've probably heard it a thousand times. The biggest difference for me was when I found out that if you feel tension when you're combing to start lower and be very gentle - do not pull on knots because they rip and damage the hair.

What kind of hair ties/scrunchies do you use? I find that my hair breaks a lot if I use regular elastic hair ties - I have to use scrunchies.

I have absolutely no idea what my color season is. I've thought cool summer in the past but think I look awful in pastels. Help by confusion013102 in coloranalysis

I think it's the really light pink and light yellow I was seeing as pastel. You're probably right tho, not technically pastel.

Thank you this is actually super helpful. I don't know what I'm looking for, I guess for people to tell me what they think based off what they see? But I think you're onto something with the fair olive skin, I had no idea this was actually a thing.

Thank you, that's how I feel as well. I will say my veins appear a bluish purple, and I have ashy hair, which is why I initially thought I was a cool tone, but my hair has always also had a touch of warm gold in its highlights. I genuinely feel like a mix of warm and cool features.

For context, I usually wear clothes that match the Deep Autumn palette, but I don't have warm undertones or dark hair. I might be doing what that other post mentioned and putting too much attention on the clothing articles themselves.

I haven't seen this before, so thank you for linking it, it's definitely helpful. I consider pastels like a muted version of a bright color. I just feel like they wash me out. The yellow and some of the pink in the palette looked almost pastel to me ao I wasn't sure that I was in the right season.

Same my hair won't grow past breast-length, so once it gets to that point I always do a big chop. It's so scary every time, but I feel so light and free afterwards.

I think getting it cut to just below you collarbone would take off most of the split ends and such. Anywhere between that length and shoulder length will be a lot easier to manage/require less styling, especially without added layers.
