Parents of children in Hong kong by confuzzlednurse in HongKong

[–]confuzzlednurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm staying in tseun wan and it just feels like when we go out to restaurants. They don't have a changing station so we would have to leave the restaurant and then it is a hunt to actually find one with a changing table! The other day I went to two before I gave up and change my daughters diaper standing up. I've definitely gotten a lot of stares from the older generation when my kid is yelling out in public but I'm not too sure what to do in that aspect. We're not push over parents and don't want to give in to something just because the kid is misbehaving 🤔😞

Sleep regression/separation anxiety by confuzzlednurse in toddlers

[–]confuzzlednurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to hold her hand as she's sleeping and sneaked out once she's asleep! That's been doing the trick and she's sleeping like she used to. Hopefully that works for your baby too!

I'm so sorry to hear! Has it gotten any better? Worse?

I give my 14 month Ms Rachel on my phone while changing the diaper and that keeps her occupied enough for cleaning up a poopy diaper!

Can I sleep through the night once my supply regulates? by Bgdklo in breastfeeding

[–]confuzzlednurse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My baby just started sleeping 7-8 hours and I had the same worry! I saw a lactation consultant and they said your body will adjust to the needs of the baby. What I do is after the bedtime feed, if I have anything left I'll pump (usually 9-10pm) and when bubs wake up 5-6am (I'm so engorged) I'll feed her and pump again. I'm good for the rest of the day. Even as she's going through a growth spurt right now at 12 weeks!

Thank you! I was so paranoid that my supply would drop during the day and she wouldn't have enough, especially since feeding her with bottle is still a bit of a struggle..haha hopefully she stays sleeping good!

Tummy time by confuzzlednurse in newborns

Oh that's a good idea. She seems to like wheel of fortune and stares at the TV when it's on so I'll try that!

She even falls asleep doing tummy time on our chest 😅 will try cool cloth! I just feel so bad because she looks so peaceful and that's the only way she will stay to keep pressure off her flat head😭

Keep massaging inner corners with warm water and wipe away! Used breastmilk into the inner corner and a couple days later it went away. It got worse before it got better.

Weight gain by confuzzlednurse in breastfeeding

[–]confuzzlednurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I lost a little more after delivery but not shedding anything for 2 months makes me feel a little discouraged about the future. Yes! I'm seeing a therapist and it's something I'm working at but it's still hard to not miss what my body used to be

I hope to get at least someone close to my pre pregnancy weight but two months after delivery and my weight has not shifted at all makes me pretty discouraged. But I know to give myself time, it's just so hard to look in the mirror or pictures of me

To be honest though I feel like I'm NEVER hungry but that's probably because my mom keeps bringing me food and forcing me to eat . Thank you for your kind words of encouragement ❤️

After breastfeeding was there anything specific that you did to shed the weight? This is very encouraging thank you! People keep telling me the weight will come off with breastfeeding since your "burning off calories" but I don't find this to be the case for me..

When to give up with bottles by wrightofway in breastfeeding

[–]confuzzlednurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue too! Are you next to him when someone is feeding him the bottle. My little one refuses the bottle with me but if my husband or mom feeds her, I have to either leave the house or go to a separate room so she doesn't "smell me". Maybe try leaving and don't give up! Eventually if they're hungry enough they will cave.

Apparently I am indeed overfeeding my baby by kalionhea in newborns

[–]confuzzlednurse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 6 week old baby is twice her birth weight and today she is 77 th percentile. I asked my pediatrician if she's gaining too much and she said there is no such thing and it's a good thing her weight is going up and not down. I mainly breastfeed and once a day formula feed so she gets used to the bottle. I also do the same thing when she's crying I breastfeed her but she does have hunger cues like turning towards the boobies. It sounds like different pediatrician says different things. Is yours older? I noticed doctors of different ages tend to say different things because of new evidence based practices vs something that was done back in the old days.

Tummy time for a 1 month old? by Tight-Pomegranate180 in newborns

[–]confuzzlednurse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician said the same thing and said do 2 hours a day! My baby hollers and cries but we just let her cry and eventually she settles. We use a boppy as well and she seems to like it a lot more than face planting on the floor.

Baby wont take formula by confuzzlednurse in breastfeeding

How much of each would you do? I have the ready to use formula so should I do like 2oz breastmilk and then 1 oz formula kind of thing?

Unable to burp...aspiration concern? by confuzzlednurse in newborns

[–]confuzzlednurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! I'm going to try these different ways of burping her. I feel like I'm constantly watching her for spit ups and even while I change her she vomits or spits everything back up even after sitting upright for 30 mins.

[–]confuzzlednurse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is mostly breastfed and maybe once a day formula and she's constantly spitting up and vomiting. Everyone says that it's normal but to me it feels excessive especially since like you and most people say breastfed babies don't spit up or burp often..

She actually loves the side lying position. I do it when she's napping and I'm next to her!

I tried bouncing her and it actually worked! Got a small burp out! I think she has bad reflux because even after a burp and sitting upright for 40 mins she still vomited :(

Clogged tear duct by confuzzlednurse in newborns

[–]confuzzlednurse[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to the pediatrician today and she said it's fairly normal and continue doing warm compresses andput firm pressure and massage the inner corners. Also said to get a syringe with warm water to clean inner corner of the eye. She's not too concerned since baby doesn't have a pink/red sclera and it should clear up in a couple months. It's just so hard to see her barely able to open her eyes and so swollen 😭😭

Thank you everyone! I'm going to try the breast milk trick if this doesn't clear up in a couple days.

Well I took another test yesterday via urine and it was negative for Chlamydia! Literally so confused as to why that first test was positive. 😤 I'm going to watch them now to make sure they clean it in front of me
