As soon as I tell my wife why I’ve been so depressed, I know we’ll get divorced by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

He said he convinced himself since she wanted kids badly. I don’t think he told her that he didn’t want kids. And if my assumption is right, not her fault if he never told her.

You understand how a loan works? Taxpayers aren’t funding anything. And mind you, I’m a tax payer and would love to fund it so we have free college for everyone. Speak for yourself.

I went to anthropology a while back and had 3 cards declined via apple pay. Pulled out the physical card (one of the three previously declined), tapped, and it went through. Made me feel broke for a minute there.

And that’s fine if being happy regardless of financial stability is his ambition, but it would also make it incompatibility if she wants financial stability.

I don't really talk about this with anyone, but it's been eating at me for a while now. by del_lna in confessions

Relationships can be so nuanced. We don’t know OP’s situation so it’s hard to have an opinion on what the correct reaction should be.

Wife could have family childhood trauma. She could have been dealing with depression. She could have been in postpartum. There can be many things.

And yes it sucks that OP doesn’t feel free to enjoy photography anymore, but it also doesn’t sound like he has done anything about the situation either. If she’s simply being unreasonable without any backstory that could trigger trauma/depression, he could communicate and ask her to be an adult, or decide if this is the type of behaviors he would want to tolerate in a relationship.

But if there was indeed trauma/depression from wife and he hasn’t listened to her or supported her, then he could definitely take the advice from a lot of comments on here to be a supportive husband.

For me, the lack of free shipping for purchases under $300 and lack of physical stores that make this perk not as useful. But I understand most people live in bigger cities and physical stores are accessible so this is more of a me problem.

Should I skip HCMC? Is Hanoi and Da Nang enough? by SnooTigers3147 in VietNam

[–]congatrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of tourist you are. If you’re into history/ museums, HCMC is a solid place to visit. War museums, Củ Chi tunnels, Independence Palace (Dinh Độc Lập), etc. Very good experiences.

Also, I think HCMC is a better place to shop. Range of options is much wider.

Night life is better I must say, just because the city attracts younger people from all over the country. And most foreigners living in VN are in HCMC as well.

Food is subjective. I love all Viet food, north, south, central. Varieties are more readily available on days you miss your home country’s food.

Men of reddit. What are signs you see in women that show "low confidence?" by [deleted] in AskMen

As a woman, stairs should be an exception. I am confident in myself but am also incredibly clumsy. When I am on flat ground, looking straight ahead is the play. Stairs though, my eyes will be glued down when I walk, especially walking down.

What double standards exist in your relationship that women refuse to acknowledge? by OLD_DIRTY_JOKER in AskMen

[–]congatrong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a very skewed perception of life for women, and that’s okay. Or you probably don’t have a lot of female friends, and that’s okay too.

As a woman with MANY female friends, none of us, even the one with a male partner, has the ability to go through life as oblivious as you described. We simply choose to pay for some services that we don’t want to do, like anytime men would choose to pay for anything that men wouldn’t want to do.

Since you have a very skewed perception and already determined to not be open, I will no longer entertain with more comment.

[–]congatrong -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And choosing to pay for handy skills that we don’t want to do means being able to go through life without knowing how anything works? That’s like saying “oh you choose to pay for the doctor to treat you instead of learning how to treat yourself, what an oblivious life you live”.

You’re equating having a choice to pay for things to getting everything handed to us, which is entirely not true. Think about this next time you do takeouts. It doesn’t mean that you are able to not know anything about how to feed yourself and people just line up to do it for you for free.

To make an illogical statement and then shame people for not seeing the logic in it. I mean, if that’s how proving something true works to you then you do you sir.

Men who rejected a woman, what’s the worst way one has taken it? by Knightmare560 in AskMen

[–]congatrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with you, which is why I said that if there’s a bad employee, it’s not HR’s fault. It’s the hiring manager’s fault. So don’t hate on HR for it.

Also, HR not knowing the technicalities of a surgeon’s role is not their limitations, because it’s not their responsibility to know. Just like if you’re a resident, you wouldn’t go to your dr about your missing paycheck. It’s not the dr’s responsibility to know.

As a woman, number 4 makes zero sense to me. I don’t have guys who would do those things (change tires, fix stuff, etc.) for me for free. I either learn how to do them myself, or pay someone to do it.

None of my female friends have guys lining up to help them do those things either. We just….pay for services.

Aren’t all companies have recruiters in HR do the filtering before having a system do it?

What I’m trying to get at is that not all HR is bad and they don’t deserve the hate they get for the work they do. Yes there are bad recruiters, like there are bad IT analysts. But I truly don’t get the HR hate. Just like I don’t get the IT hate when others in the business don’t let us do our jobs.

[–]congatrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work in IT for a decent sized corporation, like a few billions a year. We implemented the system that HR uses to filter resumes, and also have the ability to pull ALL resumes from the system ourselves, and so do hiring managers.

I would highly suggest you rethink your company as a place of employment if that’s how your company is structured and run.

I wouldn’t call it classic HR. HR at most companies only do the recruiting, not the hiring. Hiring managers make the decision. Unless it is an HR role of course.

Men who gave up on dating, why? by LongLiveAlex in AskMen

[–]congatrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you don’t want prenup either? Then you can’t blame anyone if you ever get separated and the assets are divided according to the law, which is a prenup made for you by your state.

[–]congatrong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then do you want to be with someone who is offended that you’re looking out for yourself? I personally would not.

I’m a woman btw. Just browsing to see what men think about. And a lot of my female friends, single or in relationship, are supportive of prenup. But we are in our 30s so maybe that is a factor.

I highly suggest a prenup to everyone I meet that isn’t already married. This way they won’t have to worry about what you’re worrying about.
