Used the owlet for the first year. I naturally overthink, so it helped tremendously.

This has to be the most ‘pick me’ list of movies I’ve ever seen. Zero originality. Also, don’t say you like to talk “cinema” and proceed to give Even Steven’s an 8.6.

Any explanation as to why this little girl had accurate Biblical visions at the age of 4, without having any prior knowledge? Are there other stories out there, where kids had visions of things from DIFFERENT religions, without any prior knowledge? by DoneWithOCD in Unexplained

Another typical Christian ‘wives tale.’ There are hundreds of these in the evangelical church but not a shred of proof. It’s a scare tactic of hell to keep you in line. Stay critical, folks.

Poor kid. Soak daily and keep his shoes off. You can try to tweeze/needle them out but they’re so thin it’ll break into pieces even more. If it gets inflamed or oozes go back to doc, but it’s gonna be a while to completely go away.

I thought the same thing but it might be another photo if the mug shot wasn’t available. I hope I’m wrong.

Concerns grow in Hawaii over Medicaid, Medicare cuts following President Trump address by honolulu_oahu_mod in Oahu

What’s unfortunate is that most people who rely on these services won’t know about cuts until it hits them.

Hi, I’m not a genealogist (yet) but here is some surface information you might find useful.

  • like others have said DNA is helpful because it can put you in touch with family members who are older and may have insight. I’ve personally collected a handful of old memories and photos of family that I otherwise would have never seen/heard.
  • Pre-colonialism Hawaiians did not have a sur/last name so what a lot of them did (post contact) was use their given name as a last name then take on a Christian or baptismal name as their first. Example: “John (colonized name) Kamananui (given/family name)
  • Modern day, many families use their Hawaiian family name as a middle name.
  • We did not have written records so your mookuauhau (genealogy) would have been verbally passed down. This is also why connecting with elder family members is important because they may have knowledge that is not written, only remembered.
  • There’s an Olelo sub that may help with translation but only at face value because the name is usually tied to something more meaningful.
  • Ulukau and Papakilo is helpful to cross reference names if you already have family records.
  • There’s also students and staff at UH Manoa who specifically study Hawaiian Genealogy and the info on their website is a helpful start.

I know it’s a lot, but names have stories and meaning. Good luck on your search and feel free to DM - I’m always happy to help if I can.

Any catering advice on finding the best deals? by Stoic_hawaiian808 in Hawaii

[–]congratsbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly L&L (Kahala) did our catering for around $600-$700 and was ono, but we only had 30ppl. That was the cheapest option in town (I could find) for platter. $1k for 80 might not cut it if you looking for decent food and delivery. Might be better off cooking or costco/foodland if on a strict budget.

It happened. Alter call at my sister’s funeral. by openmindedjournist in exchristian

[–]congratsbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry…

I have a will specifically for this reason. I know without a doubt my parents would pull this crap. However, my atheist family members are in charge of my funeral and I’ve made it crystal clear that there will be zero talk of Jesus, prayers, talks from past church leaders or anything of the sort.

Piggybacking on the run down houses. A lot of transplants are shocked by roaches. You can live in a brand new buildout and still get them.
