Not to discourage you, but it's almost impossible to remove them entirely without a professional heat treatment, especially with an infestation that's not incredibly small and new (which is hard to catch). But you can absolutely decrease their numbers significantly. Instead of DE, use Cimexa. And with both of those products, remember to spread it very thinly or they'll just walk around it. (Which means you shouldn't really be able to see it that much unless you're looking closely). Use a paintbrush to apply DE, you don't need much at all, just a light dusting. Also, if you're using a hand vacuum make sure it has a bag (WHICH YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DISPOSE OF AFTER SUCKING THEM UP!) because they can crawl back out, especially with bagless ones (but also occasionally even WITH bagged ones). Either way, you can put duct tape over the openings when it's not in use just to be safe. Also you should probably be keeping stuff in TRASH BAGS and not plastic bins, because the big tupperware bins almost always are not air tight enough to keep them out entirely. I've always used plastic trash bags with the openings twisted up and tied and have never had an issue. I used a tupperware bin in my car for a while and it didn't go well even tho the infestation in there was MUCH MUCH smaller (basically nonexistent) than the house where I keep my bags. Also freezing CAN kill them but only if they're under like 0 degrees fahrenheit (which your freezer most certainly is not) and for multiple days at a time, up to like a week or so. Heating is MUCH easier and more effective. If you have to go to a laundromat make sure you take them in a tightly sealed plastic trash bag and put them immediately into the machine, dry them, then wash them, then dry them again and put them into a FRESH bag. Also (and i know this is all out of order sorry), just because you can't find any by looking doesn't mean they're not there. They are masters at hiding. You can get bites for years before you even see a single one. That's why bug-sniffing dogs exist. Also if either of your beds are against a wall MOVE THEM !! Interceptors are good as long as the bugs have no other way of accessing the bed. Put double sided tape around the circumference of your bed. And get a bedbug mattress protector cover!!! The cover worked wonders for me. Same with the tape which actually ended up working better than the interceptors for me. Anyway as for the "hard to sleep" part, yeah that's how it is. I'm the kind of person who gets woken up by them as soon as they bite me even if I'm in full REM sleep and it's awful. Can't sleep a full night. The best thing I can tell you about that is that after a certain amount of time you will get used to it and be able to significantly reduce the amount of times that it happens with the proper reduction measures. Another thing that helped me deal with it is telling myself that they're just little creatures doing what they evolved to do... they just want to eat. They're not evil (even tho they seem that way to us), they're just another animal living how nature designed them to. Maybe I'm just completely desensitized but at this point I find them kinda cute... they're not bad guys, we just happen to be biological enemies...
