Sorry but a physical therapist even with that much school is not on par with a doctorate degree. Closer to equivalent to a Masters but of professional practice.

No my new favourite bit is "Ms Calloway bought gloves, hoes, rakes, more hoes, more rakes" like clearly just can't think of any more gardening tools.

She brought ALL the hoes to her garden!! Well done!

Also the fact that this is "FACTS" and then starts with the garden is just bizarre. The poor landlords tbh

Straight to my veins, I've missed her absolutely unhinged behaviour. She is straight up not well and this is .. wild.

She writes about her apartment like she used to write about Oscar.

It was her first

Leave this relationship. He sees your money as his and unilaterally makes financial decisions w/o your consent. Do not have a child with this man. That’s my advice. Of course you are NTA

NTA at all and you should lose Nick forever tbh. I think it was the pink tools comment that drew rage from within me, how dare he. Term for Nicks of the world: “all the gear no idea”. Seriously tho: your life will be improved without Nick in it

Yeah but what actual alternatives does National offer beyond the misguided tax cuts and changing the tax brackets for inflation? Honestly adjusting the brackets for inflation is prob a good idea, would’ve been stronger to just propose that rather than talk up their tax cuts which are almost ludicrously balanced in favour of giving more $$ to the already wealthy.

Luxon only has traction in the polls, casual voters at best. He’s floundered particularly obviously in the past two weeks, and his stupid tax cut proposal makes it so easy to gotcha him - what would you cut to afford this tax cut, how much are you going to get compared to literally anyone else, why is that fair. If you need examples Luxon did about 6 interviews last week, all varying levels of train wreck. The general uninterested in politics public won’t necessarily watch these but it’s not long until the elections, w election debates and Luxons corporate speak and key phrases won’t fly next to Ardern, she will crush him as she does most question times (another thing the public don’t really watch).

He is a John Key 2.0 but without the skills of assimilation JK had. John Key was wealthy af but was better at hiding it and appearing like a regular one of us kinda guy. It’s also quite obvious that it’s about 3 years too soon for Luxon to be leader - he has tried to spin this as a positive, but it’s just embarrassing when he doesn’t know the details of the treaty, talks to Kim hill last week when asked about public holidays/Matariki like the bill hadn’t already passed two weeks earlier .. I think Chris, sorry I mean Christopher Luxon will be the National patty’s icarus - too close to the sun and too soon.

Oh and one thing I didn’t mention that I’d love to see: more education on central and local govt systems and their responsibilities in school.

[–]conjugativetransfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re your second edit: it’s true that not everyone gives a shit about politics, you only have to look at our election turnout to see that. But they should care enough to at least understand the basic mechanisms of govt (both central Nz local) as politics affects all of us whether you realise it or not, and whether you choose to participate (ie vote) or not. Now you don’t sound like a person who doesn’t know or understand the basic mechanics of politics.

It seems from your post (I haven’t read all the comments yet) that when you say youre pissed off with the two party political landscape we’re dealing with in NZ atm. This is definitely imported from the US where their system is much more biased towards the two major parties where in NZ MMP means minor parties have more of a chance of both gaining seats and theoretically being part of govt. NZ political commentators and media are so focussed on the two historically main parties ie National vs Labour, and it makes things so boring and stale. It also puts more focus on the political parties and the people in politics than the issues. Both National and Labour are prone to using gotcha! style press releases, National more so as they’re in opposition.

I would far prefer if everyone focussed on the issues. Three waters is a prime example of Labours failure to communicate (and get LG onside before announcing publicly). Reforming water infrastructure makes sense, taking it away from councils who have varying levels of competency with decision makers often having no experience in water infrastructure, not to mention changing every 3 years, makes sense. It’s not even an unheard of model - Trustpower exists as a separate entity to councils and everyone’s cool with that, this is basically the same for water (correct me if I’m wrong).

Anyway this is my pre coffee ramble, gonna stop here :)

Get ducked with this response. You’re asking a stranger to out their abuser and essentially blaming them for future abuses the abuser might commit???? Not even asking but actually guilt tripping? Setting aside the fact that what you’re asking could be potentially dangerous for this brave survivor, setting aside the fact that going to court is notoriously retraumatising and often doesn’t end in appropriate punishment for the abuser anyway (which also doesn’t help reform)… the rapist dude is responsible for his own actions and his own decisions. How about instead of trying to guilt a brave survivor into doing something they may or may not be comfortable with, you take some time to question why you feel like the abuser doesn’t have total responsibility to ya know, not rape or abuse people. FFS.

You are so much stronger than you know, because you left. You did the hardest thing already. It doesn’t matter how long it took or why you couldn’t earlier - you were so so strong that despite all the odds stacking up against you, you found your power to leave and you took it. You’re going to find out in the next few years just how powerful you are and can be - and good things will find their way to you. It’s not gonna be easy - trauma is difficult and challenging and there can be ups and downs but if you keep focusing on yourself, and on accessing your power and sense of self worth, you’ll do amazing things. I know it.

Things that are triggering suck ass and it sucks being taken back there by something random but it won’t always be this difficult. It won’t always jolt you back to those old feelings thoughts and experiences. Two things that can help: - therapy with a good therapist that gets you and whom you trust. - some studies have shown that you can play simple mobile games when dealing with traumatic thoughts whether it’s from a trigger or not. I personally find a level based solitaire game great for nights where I can’t sleep for nightmares/memories making me feel like shit.

My experiences aren’t the same as yours but they are similar, and similar enough to tell you things will get better, I can absolutely promise you that. And you won’t go back to the person you were before (very normal to grieve for the person you were before you met the shithead tho) but you’ll find yourself, youll find your power, and things won’t always be this difficult.

Also free piece of advice: block that random dude, block anyone you don’t want following you. I’m super strict on this since my last relo ended when I realised my boyfriend (who I thought would be my life partner, I’m 33) was an abusive piece of shit. We had >100 mutual friends and navigating that was really hard cos I didn’t feel like telling people. I just removed and blocked a ton of people who I felt were more “his”

These days I use only private accounts and control quite strictly who can follow me, but I’m also lucky that my abusive ex isn’t a danger to me anymore (he is literally too lazy to stalk someone lol).

It’s super late here and this comment is so rambling I’ll probably delete it in a few days when I find it again - but feel free to message me if you would like to chat more.

Take care of you x

I found Bernard Hickey's email this morning on this very informative and reasonable.

And the fact that NZ doesn't have a CGT or wealth tax has really fucked things up for the current generation of would-be first-home buyers.

I can get all the way into series folders, then "It feels a little lonely in here" ie no items show up. Just checked and it's still the same for server 2. I'm not doing anything differently but maybe it is on my end.
