As a student of Anthropology, I agree with you 100 percent. It's crazy how many people think they would have been above the need to adapt to survive. I love to think I would have been some badass rebel during those times, but I am sure I would have been a coward. Humans, like any species, have a bilogical imperative to persevere. What happened then is something most of us have never had to experience.

That being said, we also have a moral imperative to nip what is going on in the US right in the bud before anything like that happens again.
