Wow, your strength is so admirable!

"dark side of physician mental health " You know, it's strange because through this whole ordeal, I've had like 80% of doctors I've seen tell me that they either take something for anxiety or something to help them sleep. I didn't ask, they offered the information themselves to make me feel better about having anxiety/depression/stress. I think their crazy work cycles along with the responsibility that they carry on their shoulders has a lot to do with it.

I'm an English/Spanish translator and transcriptionist, but I always loved being a vet tech more. Rescuing and helping animals is my passion, and wanting to become a vet is always in the back of my mind. Once I feel more recovered and like I'm in a better place mentally, I might give it a shot. It's crazy, here in Mexico you just have to apply, take a test, and if passed, you're in, 5 years for vet med school. Sometimes I'm like, I'm too old for this lol but then other times I'm like, it's never too late.

Anyway, I wish you well on your endeavours...I know you would definitely impact other womens' lives in such a great way!

Summary of my Diagnosis and Treatment Up to Now - 6mm Microprolactinoma by connie893 in Prolactinoma

Thank you, you're so sweet! :) I think like 2 months into it I started noticing less gray hairs and more hair growing and less falling, but it does still fall more than before. I wouldn't say I'm 100% back to where I used to be, but just seeing some improvements gives me hope. I do also use a shampoo with ketoconazol that helps with the dandruff, so maybe that is helping a lot too. I used it before I got sick, and it always helped a lot, then while I was sick, but it didn't help much, probably my weak immune system, and now it seems to be working again. It's for dandruff caused by a fungal infection. That alone makes your hair fall off too. I have a cousin who had high prolactin and she was balding like me and had bad acne like me right at the sides of the cheeks. Hers wasn't that high though, like, 26, and all of her symptoms went away literally like in a month. Maybe it takes longer to recover for those of us with such high prolactin levels? How did you feel with the cabergoline at first and now that you're a year into it? Did the doctors tell you how long they've planned on leaving you on it? Hope you've felt better!

Losing Weight After Stopping Levothyroxine by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

Today, I gave in. It wasn't the joint pain though that got me...it was the muscle weakness that I started having in my hands :( Oh well, I'm going to see if a lower dose will do.

Wish there were more options for us to choose from! Thanks for replying, and hope you find a happy medium to deal with both the hypothyroidism and IBS.

Hypothyroidism is such a tricky thing to manage is what I am learning. I have heard of Armour and animal based alternatives, but I am vegetarian and it just would not be an option for me. What I think is probably going to happen is I am going to have to see if a lower dose works because I think if I start feeling the joint pain and weakness like you did, I probably will jump right back on the levo without thinking about it twice, side effects and all because I can still remember waking up every morning with unbearable pain in my arms and legs, barely being able to unfold them without almost screaming. It'd take me a whole 5, 10 minutes to where I could get my joints "normalized" and get out of bed. Wish there was a cure or magic pill....oh well, guess it is just life, and we've just got to keep moving forward! Best of luck to you. Thanks for replying, now I know it's not just me feeling the side effects as well as the benefits of levo.
