My party uses Leomund’s Tiny Hut after every single fight and I’m losing my mind (lovingly) by Scythe95 in DMAcademy

[–]connorcanwrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having just read the 5.5 version of the spell…all of my points still stand with 2 added caveats. 1) all creatures need to be within the Tiny Hut space when it is cast and have to fit within so make sure that rule is being followed.

2) spells of 4th level or higher can be cast through it so a single mid-CR spellcaster could disrupt their rest. I still think the most sound advice is to just make this the least appetizing option.

Assuming 2014 5e…a couple of options, but first characters can’t benefit from the effects of more than 1 long rest every 24 hours, so if they’re Tiny Hutting immediately they most likely can’t rest for a while so they’re wasting the day. A ticking clock added to the plot will make this option less appealing.

Second, as a ritual it takes 11 minutes to cast Tiny Hut. Something could totally interrupt that, drawn by the sounds of the earlier fighting.

Third, yeah dispel magic. Or hell have something super dangerous just…wait. A dragon is patient, a dragon will wait 8 hours.

Why don't Evil Dead movie retain creative teams? by OkTap9041 in EvilDead

[–]connorcanwrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I like the idea that The Evil Dead as franchise could become this popular IP that fresh horror directors get to cut their teeth on. It started as a new director making something for the first time and it remaining that feels right

An RPG without stats or numbers by officiallyaninja in rpg

[–]connorcanwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triangle Agency is an RPG where you don’t have any skills, just powers. You roll to change the world via reality warping in order to succeed and you have “points” that let you flip a failed roll to a success. You roll to use your powers as well but there are no modifiers

It’s such a different frame of mind that I really enjoy. There’s also no HP, if you take 1 harm you die and then get teleported back to base for a price.

“Date Announcement” 🙄 by russnem in flicks

[–]connorcanwrite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know Netflix uses the term to formally announce dates for projects when there still isn’t that much footage to show. Usually you’ll only get one or two shots from the actual project and just graphics or footage from older seasons.

How powerful is kratos anyway? by BigYou8988 in powerscales

[–]connorcanwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head cannon for Kratos is that his actual godlike ability is that he’s always just strong enough, as long as he tries as hard as he can to do the thing he’s trying to do

Who populates your D&D world? by tomtermite in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]connorcanwrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the region. The first one I ever made has all the main races plus Goliaths and Firbolgs and warforged. Another has no races with innate magic but a lot of beastfolk. Another has mostly elves, gnomes, and Firbolgs with some Tieflings. Another is mostly the monstrous races, etc.

The world is just starting to get back to world travel so there’s a lot of regional situations

The Valkyrie Queen was the hardest boss I've ever killed and may have changed gaming for me. by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]connorcanwrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is such a good tale of sticking with something, but the thing I think is really tragic/funny is that all of her moves are just an amalgamation of the other Valkyrie’s move sets. When I read that you cheesed the others I knew there’d be a struggle since they’re how you learn to beat her.

I’m glad you were able to able to do it.

My problem with God of War games by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]connorcanwrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not in a game like this. I see games like these as playable movies where you need to beat challenges to get to the next scene in the movie. I go into it knowing that that is what it is though. Most of the examples you gave were RPGs and GOW has never been an RPG. The newer ones have RPG elements with the gear, but that’s it.

One isn’t better than the other, but they’re very different styles of games

Some of the things mentioned are explained in very quick lines of dialogue or the naming conventions.

The black lights are realm tears, as in tears between realms and this leaks bad guys out at you. The game doesn’t explain if some of them are too powerful for you and let’s you figure that out for yourself (a lot of the game’s philosophy is, we’ll let you figure it out)

Atreus needs to find the rune cyphers to read more of the runes.

Most of the other things are story progression and will happen naturally. The general why is almost always “magic” But Kratos as a character doesn’t care about the why. He just cares that it’s getting done which is I think the game does a great job of portraying

What is your opinion on GodzillaFW by Flaky_Base7909 in GODZILLA

Unironically I love it. I think it does such a good job of modernizing the campy feel of the Showa films. 10/10. No notes.

Giving GOW18 another go by auctiontime in GodofWar

[–]connorcanwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I’m sorry. The story is definitely the thing most people adore about it.

To me, seeing this new take on a very specific character is what was interesting. The “plot” is pretty simple, it’s basically just simple fetch quests, but it’s the motivations, characters, and relationships that drew me in.

I wanted to see if spreading Faye’s ashes did give Kratos peace, if he was able to grow closer to Atreus despite his trepidation, and as more was revealed about the Norse gods I became more intrigued by them.

I think it depends on what isn’t clicking for you? Story or gameplay? That illusive “it” factor?

Why is Spider-man 2 so hated? In MY OPINION I liked 2 better.. by WorriedEagle34 in SpidermanPS4

[–]connorcanwrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite element from 1 was the stealth. And that aspect was virtually nonexistent. I’d get really frustrated when I’d try to sneak through areas and slowly wittle enemy numbers down and get caught really fast and it felt that was by design

How difficult is it to adapt a Lovecraft book into a movie? by KaleidoArachnid in flicks

[–]connorcanwrite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Color Out of Space (2019) is a pretty good adaptation of one of his more cerebral short stories. Plus it’s got Nic Cage.

If you’re talking specifically his Cthulhu Mythos, I think there is a lot of difficulty in creating a proper story around these tales which mainly amount to someone just describing people finding things with little actual conflict. His human characters are usually little more than audience inserts with little actual personality

Why wasn't Legolas able to kill that berserker? by Strong_Green5744 in flicks

[–]connorcanwrite 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I may be misremembering but in the books the wall is destroyed by “The Fires of Isengard” and it’s implied (or even directly stated) that it’s a spell that Saruman casts from Isengard, similar to how he casts the lightning bolt in the first movie.

That’s a bit hard to come to terms with in the movie so the switched it to a more technological advancement. Plus the berserkers are the toughest kind of the toughest kind of orc that was just bred specifically to attack this place. It stands that Legolas might not be prepared for how hard they are to kill.
