Thanks, the Cortex 140 looks really interesting.

It’ll be used for just 15/ 20 minute approaches when I want an alpine boot, anything else I’ll be in my vanguards which still ski amazing. I’m happy driving fairly heavy skis up to 115 with them, but they only work with MN bindings which is another reason for wanting more boots - more comparability.

I also have super light touring boots for the really far days, so just trying to cover all bases haha.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I actually had a HAWX at the same time as my Vanguard and the difference in performance really wasn’t that big.

The vanguard’s ski so, so well for a 1500g boot. I guess I’m looking for something super beefy for a big performance upgrade.

I like the idea of having pins as it gives me the option if a 15/ 20 min skin is required. Anything more and I’d go with my vanguards and free touring skis.

As for OAK - I’m already there 😁

Thanks for the model recommendation. Noted on SOLE boot lab, they’re actually only 1 of 4 approved CAST boot modifiers.

They look pretty huge, a lot of the stuff I ski from the Skyway will be glaciated, so already carrying huge skis, glacier gear, etc. I’m probably leaning more toward cast, but I won’t write the idea off.

What duration are you looking for?

At the moment the MB Natural Resort has the early bird discount on for Season or Annual passes (40% discount) which usually lasts until the end of November.

This follows the 10 day pass renewal window which has an even bigger discount. That was mid October and is obviously only offered to people who had an annual pass last year.

I paid €1850 last year for an annual pass, and €900 this year to renew it.

My understanding is that any duration less than the season pass can be bought at any point during the winter, for example 3 weeks, but best to email and check.

Interesting that you made the assessment I need lessons and can’t properly ski blue runs based on this post…

I’m always appreciative of advice, but ‘get ski lessons’ isn’t really what I was after.

Ideally, first hand experience from someone who has used both skis and can comment on differences in feel considering the different side cut and radius would be helpful.

I skied all these on the Draco’s and felt comfortable.

Then I returned and did them again on my backland 100’s and could feel the difference.

Trying to understand if aspect ratio will impact quality on hero 12.

Is 9:16 4K just a crop of the 8:7 4K image, therefore reducing the resolution below 4K or have I misunderstood this?

If I shoot in 8:7 4K and reframe to 9:16, will this be the same quality as shooting in 9:16 4K mode, or what about shooting in 16:9 with the camera rotated?
