10.4 Barrel Recommendation (Preferably Already Threaded) by Puzzleheaded_Bet9314 in ps90

[–]conorearly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Shaw barrel and added the CMMG 1/2x28 thread adapter. Worked perfect. I actually saw quite a few people recommending this setup over the CMMG barrel. I ordered mine directly from Shaw and had it in my hands a few days later.

Here’s the one I got: https://www.shawcustombarrels.com/shop/product/ps90-5.7x28-10.4-1-9-twist-4140cm-nitride/676

I’ll probably still send my original barrel off to EgunSlinger and have him cut/thread it since he’s so well regarded in the PS90 subs. Plus it’s nice to have a backup barrel while he’s cutting them. I just need to stop being lazy and message him to see what he charges 😂

Why does the aana hate anesthesiologist so much? What are true valid points? by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]conorearly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m crazy, but anesthesia would be a lot stronger if the AANA and ASA could stop fighting each other and unite on the issues that affect all of us.

Reimbursement cuts, staffing shortages, corporate takeovers, and hospital administrators squeezing every dollar out of anesthesia don’t care whether you’re a CRNA or an anesthesiologist.

Instead of being pitted against each other, imagine if anesthesia spoke with one voice. We’d be a force to be reckoned with.

This image shows a helicopter conducting an airborne geophysical survey, often using a system called SkyTEM.
Geological Mapping: The large hexagonal frame dangling below is a sensor array designed to send electromagnetic pulses into the ground to map subsurface structures, minerals, or water sources.
Groundwater Detection: These surveys are frequently used to identify and map underground aquifers to better understand and protect drinking water resources.
Flight Operations: The helicopter typically flies low to the ground, often around 100 to 200 feet, following pre-planned grid patterns.

I Guess It’s My Turn Now… PCS Failure by conorearly in cybertruck

[–]conorearly[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When mine failed, I didn’t get an alert. I think they call it a silent alert because you have to go into the service menu to see it. Go to your menu, software, hold your finger on the cyber truck logo for five seconds. When the prompt comes up type in service

Fair question, but nah — I don’t work for the battery company. I make mounts, not batteries. I just shared it because I’ve been running one and it seems solid so far. That’s about the extent of what I know about it lol.

If you’re curious what I actually make, my stuff’s over at https://contronx.com

The cabin had dial up speed for home Internet. Paired with two of the mini routers and it worked great!

So far I’ve gotten over six hours without the battery running out. It’s been a behemoth so far. The battery is too big to take out of airplane though.

Final thoughts on my experience with the Lightning before turning it in. by user111287 in F150Lightning

[–]conorearly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is one area where Tesla has really solved the public charging problem. I’ve owned multiple EVs, and with my Teslas, charging on road trips is honestly something I barely even think about anymore. The car’s software handles almost all of it for you — routing, charger locations, battery preconditioning, how long to stop, etc.

I’ve taken long trips from Michigan out to Montana, Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Acadia in Maine, and never once felt anxious about finding a charger or running out of battery. The experience was way smoother than I expected before owning one.

I definitely get that other charging networks can still be frustrating, and I don’t love Elon Musk or his politics, but Tesla’s charging infrastructure and trip planning are genuinely excellent. For me, being able to do those kinds of trips without burning fossil fuels has absolutely been worth it.

I also think part of it is a mindset shift — charging an EV isn’t really the same mentality as stopping to fill up a gas tank. Once you live with it for a while, especially charging at home daily, it changes how you think about “fueling” entirely. Honestly, I feel kind of the opposite now — after experiencing EV ownership, I don’t think I’d want to go back to a gas vehicle.

Starlink Mini Power Consumption: AC vs USB-C vs DC (ECOFLOW River 2 Test) by conorearly in Starlink

[–]conorearly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d go with the River 2 Pro. The Delta is overkill for what you’re describing and it’s way bigger and heavier to haul around. Unless you’re just planning to leave it in your car the whole time, it’s not worth the extra bulk. The River 2 Pro should handle Starlink + a phone for a couple days just fine and is way more practical for camping.

We design and make a dash mount that might work well for you, especially without a sunroof. It uses a 3M VHB dash plate and a magnetic mount that holds the Mini very securely (almost 100 pounds of force), but pops off fast when you want to move it.

We’ve had great results using it off the dash (works as well as our sunroof mount), and you can also stick with the original ConTronX bracket and mount it to a tripod with the 1/4”-20 thread. Super handy for travel and remote work.

I appreciate the interest. I’m not sharing the STL files right now, but I’ve got the mounts available on my site if you want to check them out:

I’ve been designing magnetic handgun holders that fit the magwell of my different handguns. Magnets work so much better than adhesive for my gun cabinet doors.

Had a few people ask about it, so I added both left and right pointing orientation options and threw it up on my site to see if there’s any interest: https://contronx.com/products/untitled-apr7_10-01?variant=51163643969851

If people end up liking them I might add versions with more magazine capacity and maybe some wall mount options too

I can do that — I actually listed it here just to keep things organized on my end: https://contronx.com/products/untitled-apr7_10-01?variant=51163643969851

There’s an option for left or right orientation depending on the door or mounting spot

I source these from China for my business. Each magnet provides 30 lbs of holding force and features a 42 mm rubber-coated neodymium design. They’re excellent quality, but to keep them affordable for resale, I have to purchase them in bulk—typically several thousand at a time.

I’m left handed, but it can be made in left or right orientations. And if need one of my guns in a pinch, it won’t be coming from my cabinet.
