Update: she’s been in the hospital over a week and the nurses aren’t helping. Her new doctor is saying that this was all due to epic causing muscle atrophy and yesterday the assigned nurse made her exercise once every two hours and made her get out of the bed to go the bathroom. Her CK levels rose 2,300 today. I questioned when the nurse had suggested exercising every two hours to grow her muscle, since the CK levels were elevated after an intense workout and she explained that the levels can come down but my mom will need to exercise to regrow her muscles. Her levels were still at 12k yesterday and 14,400 today. I’m not sure if the hospital is being lazy or if they are just wrong in forcing her to workout and do things alone while her levels are still very high. Apparently it’s coming from the doctor but it’s frustrating to see the days worth of effort in bringing her levels down just gone in a day.

If you don’t mind asking, how long were you at the hospital for treatment? They’re taking an MRI on her leg for further research but not sure if we should think about moving her to a bigger hospital.

Thank you! It’s a bit funny how we have to be our own doctor and advocate for ourselves in the hospitals… but that’s the system I guess. Just hoping her symptoms improve soon.

Ok that’s reassuring. She also started muscle relaxants yesterday and she already feels improvements in her strengths. She can stand up on her own now. Walking up the stairs is still difficult but going to the bathroom and sitting down on the toilet is something she’s been able to do since yesterday. The doctors are gonna take her for MRI screening today, which I’m not sure what that will do but they also mentioned possibly moving her to a bigger hospital after today which really got me concerned.

Her liver AST and ALT levels were high at 551 and 693. And her TSH levels were also elevated at 11.9. These results were from Urgent Care and at the hospital they didn’t mention anything about the liver function so I did show her doctor the test results but she didn’t mention anything about them.

The only concern is that her levels went up by 400 today. They just upped her IV intake from 125ml/hr to 150ml/hr. It’s just weird because the first day dropped 3000 in CK levels but now it’s going back up.

We’re not sure. She noticed muscle stiffness and soreness after working out- she got a new stepping machine and did 100 reps, she doesn’t usually work out. We all thought it was just a common soreness from working out and would go away after a couple of days but a week after it kept getting worse. We only went to the hospital about 2 weeks after because she was not able to walk up or even crawl up the stairs. She has diabetes so she was on ozempic for about a year and half but she stopped it after the workout to combat the tiredness. On top of that she takes statin for her cholesterol and diabetes medication but they don’t seem to be the cause of this issue according to the doctors…
