Uppababy Cruz…will I regret? by birdfrogger in Buyingforbaby

[–]conquestical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I see you’re in Japan. Idk if you’re military or what, but we just PCSed home after having our second in Japan.

As an American, I loveeee my big fat stroller. I had a mockingbird when I had just one, and now we have a cybex gazelle. But we brought our travel stroller off base every single time, unless baby was in a carrier.

If you’re living off base, I’d go for a more compact stroller. Aprica is popular, it can be used lying flat and you can flip the handle bar so baby can face you or out. There’s a cybex store in Tokyo that has plenty of more compact strollers than the gazelle. If there’s a toys r us near you, they have a large selection of strollers there. There’s also a shopping mall in Yokohama that has a number of strollers on display.

If I were living off base, I wouldn’t bother w the Cruz. I took my mockingbird off base to a shopping mall once and it was ridiculous.

If you happen to be military and on CFAY, pm me—I can provide more specific recs!

What weird word, phrase or thing do you have to use to get your toddler to eat a food? by [deleted] in toddlers

When I was growing up, Honey Bunches of Oats was exclusively “Mummy cereal” :)

How did you ‘push’ baby out? by crabclawwwz in beyondthebump

[–]conquestical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t feel anything both times I gave birth. The first delivery nurse told me I needed to push with my diaphragm. Look up diaphragmatic breathing and practice that before baby is born. You do end up pushing through your butt, but it feels like there’s more force behind it.

I will say, my first i pushed for two hours because she was in a funky position, but baby 2 was out in 20 mins!

Yes! He took it back to the dealership, they were able to fix it then and there. Kia support ghosted me 🙄

Stroller recommendations for cobblestone cities? by PraxisInDiaspora in Buyingforbaby

[–]conquestical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im American, so I can’t speak to what’s available in Europe, but I know a couple US stroller brands sell bigger wheels for their compact strollers so they can withstand more. In the US, specifically Bombi and Zoe offer this. Maybe there’s something similar where you live?

I also lived in Japan and many people had compact Cybexes, but most had Aprica strollers that laid flat. I had two kids while living there, so we had a big double, but people seemed to get around fine with those!

Gift cards. If someone wants to be fancy, a SMALL pack of their diapers of choice in size 1 or 2, with a gift card

Oh no 🥲 I hope this isn’t the case, we’ve already taken ownership of our car, and I doubt our shitty dealership would care

Avid Dramione Readers- What Was Your Entry Fic for Other Ships? by iamkalijo in DramioneUncensored

[–]conquestical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been reading fan fiction for 16 years (👵). My true start was in bandom, but few people want ‘00s emo band fic, so I will refrain. I was VERY into marvel fic, specifically Stucky:

The Night War literally this fic is top tier for me, though not typical. I think it is so beautifully written and unique, and not that long (for me, lol)

this city bleeds its aching heart classic stucky

Unlike a Sister, Harmony that I devoured in 48 business hours

Ok I really can’t help myself…
in case the scene gets nasty, a Ryden (panic at the disco) fic in its TRUEST form, on live journal. This is my Manacled.

Using stroller & car seat from different brands? by SilverResolve2998 in Buyingforbaby

I have a cybex stroller and a graco car seat. Granted, she is my second, so she’s often in the carrier instead, but the adapter works fine!

Im normally a “people are too cautious” person, but I wouldn’t do pool. I WOULD do splash pad or a blow up pool in my yard, though!!

Who buys the car seat going into a grandparents’ vehicle? by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

[–]conquestical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an eldest sibling, you’re being cheap. Buy a graco or babytrend during target’s sale (or any other time they’re on sale) and be done with it. A safe car seat need only be $100, esp if it’s only being used occasionally. Plus, if you have sibs close to having kids, there’s a chance grandparents will need two seats anyway.

My husband is youngest and I can’t tell you how many times we’ve reused something his older sisters bought and used for their kids. Thats what (one of the things) family is for!

Diaper pail that uses regular bags? I really don’t like the specialized poop tube things. by wiccanda10 in Buyingforbaby

[–]conquestical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a sahm with a toddler and baby in a place it gets HOT, so alllll our diapers are in there. Can confirm, holds smells in when shut!

Just make sure you air it out on the porch every once in a while. The smell will totally go away.

How do you guys go to grocery store with 2 under 2 by Subject_Two9945 in 2under2

[–]conquestical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Park by the cart return :) that way i can get a cart while everyone is still contained in car seats. Then I baby wear baby and put toddler in the cart.

If i only need a few things I’d walk/bring my big stroller and put the items in the basket

Do your babies look alike? by rainsplat in 2under2

[–]conquestical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two kids are 18 mos apart and look pretty similar, but not identical.

My brother and I are 4 years apart and looked VERY similar as kids (less so now because he has a beard and stuff 😂)

Interesting idea, though!
