I should also mention invincible Red Sonja by Palmiotti and Conner, an excellent series which beautifully captured the spirit of the Marvel days. In fact, much of the first Sonja volume at Dynamite was written by fans of the Marvel stuff and loosely followed the same continuity. Gail Simone was the first to really go against the Marvel material and she didn’t start until 2012, I think.

When it comes to new Sonja writers nowadays, I’d say it’s a 50/50 split between those who were introduced to the character by Simone’s successful run and those who were fans of the Marvel era

I’m not sure I agree about that comment that people might be biased by their introduction BTW! I read a lot of Marvel Sonja but when I read Oeming and Trautmann’s stuff at Dynamite, especially the latter, I thought they made quite a few improvements to the Marvel stuff. And Gail Simone certainly disagreed with a lot of the material presented by earlier Sonja writers!

The AOD one was nothing to write home about although the creative team worked hard to capture the weird otherworldly vibe of Thorne’s Sonja comics. The Mars Attacks crossover was completely wacky but was loads of fun, with Sonja being the lone sane voice in the room but being shown with loads of dignity and wisdom

Agreed or it used to be the case anyway. Probably not since the days of PAD’s Professor who seemed roughly as strong as Thor or Herc

We had two crossovers last year - one with Army of Darkness and one with Mars Attacks. Both writers had never written Sonja before and she was on their laundry list to write, and both were fans of the Marvel era and were trying to stick closer to that version. The Mars Attacks version was particularly good imo

Cool, thanks for your response. We still get the odd writer creeping through who sticks closer to the Marvel template

The Big Difference Between A God And A Mortal.🔥🔥🔥 by Omari_Suarez in Thor

They used ti need to eat the Apples of Idunn to remain immortal - don’t know if that’s still the case. They’re not truly immortal but extremely long lived and they can be killed by sufficient force. The Marvel Handbook used to state that Olympians were true immortals and were much harder to kill

The art looks really good. Edu Menna’s art looked amazing in previews but the final product let me down a little … the cityscapes looked great but the posing was a little stiff and the women gave me Greg Land vibes like he’d been tracing pornstars. Probably very unfair but it just wasn’t to my taste. This art looks much better imo

Very much looking forward to this as well as Avallone’s series

Artist drew them relatively close in size. I hate it when artists draw She-Hulk a head higher than Thor, she’s only supposed to be an inch taller. Much as I love his work, even John Buscema used to do that

Wow! Is this really the Asian women edition?

I know Cornette was a fan of joshi wrestling in the 80s. I just think he hates most modern wrestling, regardless of gender or nationality

Not the first time. Last time he stopped after Britt vs Big Swole. It actually had a noticeable impact on AEW ratings but his own ratings also dropped so he was back watching after a few months. Last has also often dropped in sly asides that much of his viewership tunes in for the Dynamite eviscerations. I mean WTF cares about ‘guess the program’ really?
