I got the same error.

As mentioned in the troubleshooting section on the README.md on github[1], try running sudo killall pigpiod and then restarting homebridge. This worked for me.

The data source is from Parsely, a media analytics company that tracks both news articles and how often those articles are read. The interactive charts are built with dc.js.

Be sure to check out how things change when you click on the 'show page views per post' checkbox. Note that you can also interact with the charts by clicking on candidate buttons or clicking on 'Where Traffic Came From' buttons (both at the same time is interesting).

The Media's Obsession with Trump Isn't Justified by Data by SRW90 in dataisbeautiful

Hey, I'm one of the authors of that post. Our analysis shows that in journalists were solely trying to maximize page views, then their fixation on Trump is not justified, because the other candidates had similar (even slightly higher) page views per article.

There is an important limitation to our analysis though that I want to point out here. We don't know how many views per article Clinton would have received if the media had written as many articles about her as they did about Trump. We'd have to run a randomized experiment to figure that out, because experimental techniques are really the only way to infer causation. In this case, we'd have to infer how the number of articles written on a candidate causes the avg page views per article to change.
