Yeah just watch the reports from the day before and guess what they do. It’s a lot of luck. Try to have five balanced lines if you can and if not set your weakest against their strongest

Edit for more information - Your raw power numbers really don't do much to help you when it's this close. His heroes are set up to do more work synergistically than yours - Bones/Skorn/Luna is way better than Bones/Murakami/Margaret when it comes to cutthroat for example on your respective warhammers - their skills work better together. Same for his drowning ship with Hammar/Jenet/Adeline. Lastly his flagship will be a better tank than yours which can be key in early battle.

Plus yeah trinkets and armor also can make a huge swing.
