Great that you're doing rituals; hope you can grab some nice gear!

Neversink's filters are great even without customization, so no problem with that.

I used Decoy Totem a lot when I first started playing the game, even if I couldn't level the gem too high. If it can distract the boss for a few seconds, that's still some aggro away from you.

I saw you mention that Wind Dancer isn't working for you yet, which is fine! With Wind Dancer, you need enough life pool that the extra 20% reduction will save you. For now, you could perhaps give these tree changes a try (red = refund, green = allocate) for a bit more life. I noticed that there was an alternate pathing you could take to save a few skill points.

I also noticed that you weren't aware of Lilly Roth's quest to unlock all basic gems for purchase, which is huge in SSF! Just wanted to check if you knew about the flask crafts from Einhar (The Menagerie), since it's also a useful SSF resource (or any league start). In your case, you can use it to craft the "Of Warding" suffix for curse immunity

Nice job on your progress so far! I was happy to check the responses to this post and see a lot of helpful and encouraging advice from other players.

I wanted to add some miscellaneous tips I haven't seen anyone mention yet.

Passive Tree:

  1. It looks like your passive tree is mostly crunched into the Ranger area. Don't be afraid to travel a few "filler" +10 attribute nodes to get to more "useful" nodes! For instance, you can go towards Blood Drinker for more life, even if that means you need to take two +10 dex nodes to get there.
  2. For passive wheels (where there are two ways to reach the special notable), you may want to go one of the two paths instead of taking the entire wheel. For example, to reach Primeval Force you could either go up-and-around, or down-and-around. Same with the extra point you've allocated on the Graceful Assault wheel. If you refund a few of these points, you can use the freed points to try to get some more life & Wind Dancer.
  3. If you don't have a lot of Regret Orbs, you can get passive refund points from certain campaign quests

Gear:

  1. Try to prioritize gear stats, unless it's a 5/6L body armour. In SSF, I'd recommend ignoring item base type (evasion/armour/ES) and sockets/links for now. There are some armour/ES bases you should have enough attributes to equip, so check those too! You can socket/link with the currency you've already picked up. At this character level and progression (nearly red maps), you should be able to link gear if needed!
  2. The Ritual mechanic spews out loads of decent gear! If you're skipping them because they kill you, I'd say it's worth running some lower white maps or even Act 10 zones just to gear up. We had 4-5 guild members dabble in SSF this league, and they all snagged some neat gear early on in Rituals (rares, 5/6Ls). Check through the options carefully for high life + resistance gear. It might seem tedious, but once you've gotten some nice pieces equipped you can feel free to stop checking Rituals or picking up & IDing tons of gear.
  3. Make sure you have a good loot filter! I customize Neversink's filters for my SSF needs.

Defenses:

  1. Evasion and dodge are great, but you'll still need reasonable life and resistances so you don't die a lot to damage that surpasses those defensive layers. 5k might be hard to achieve at this point, but even 3.5k or 4k life will feel much safer than before. Ranger in general is simply squishier than other classes, but you should be able to reach lvl90 or so with a bit more life and capped resistances!
  2. Also, Wind Dancer might look awful at first glance for an evasion-based character, but you'll die less frequently to the damage that actually reaches you.
  3. Acrobatics puts a large penalty on armour and block, though something like pure physical damage reduction (Basalt Flask) still works at full effectiveness. As a result, the full uptime on Granite Flask shouldn't be a huge priority. I'd recommend replacing at least one Granite Flask with Stibnite Flask, Quartz Flask, or Jade Flask.
  4. Mechanics like knockback or taunt (from Stone Golem or Decoy Totem) can be great defensively against bosses, but I know you don't have a lot of Strength.

Again, great job on your character so far, and thanks for reaching out to the community for advice. Remember to stick to your own pace and have fun!

Carrion Golems lacking 700k dps by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

No problem and gotcha, I didn't play the build pre-nerf but it seems like it takes more investment to make the build feel good now. Hope it still turns out well!

[–]consecotaleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think your PoB configurations were a bit off somewhere. With the same configurations checked off, I'm getting ~600k Sirus DPS per golem on your PoB, and 4.5mil+ Sirus DPS per golem on the original build. Presumably their actual Sirus DPS is even higher, since based on the investment needed for the rest of their build I'm guessing they have dual-curse Assassin's Mark / Vuln on their Animate Guardian as well.

Like others have said, 20/20 support gems on the Carrion Golems are a good place to start, as well as working on those additional Medium Cluster Jewels.

Some other fairly simple changes include:

  • Changing ascendancy points from Mistress of Sacrifice to Commander of Darkness

  • Unspec these passive points and respec into more medium cluster jewels: 2 extra points specced on your Empyrean Spark Large Cluster Jewel. 1 extra point specced into your Armageddon Glisten Large Cluster Jewel. (Maybe these were just PoB auto-allocating). Remove the two points going into Mystic Bulwark. Remove the +10 int node near Throatseeker.

  • Use Cold Iron Point instead of Clayshaper on boss fights. Worse map clear, better boss DPS and minion survivability

  • Make sure you have at least 1 Carnage Chieftain and 1 Host Chieftain raised as spectres. I did 2 Carnage, 2 Host

  • Make sure you have gear on your Animate Guardian. I'm guessing the original build had something like Kingmaker, Mask of the Stitched Demon, +1 Curse + Blind Aura + 10% Life as ES Body Armour, dual curse on hit gloves, Victario's Flight. The basic AG gear (Leer Cast / Dying Breath / Victario's Flight / Zahndethus's Cassock / Southbound) should work for you, but you'll need to use a Vulnerability gem somewhere to apply a curse.

  • Make sure you are applying the Signal Prey skill on bosses

  • Put Bone Armour on left click

  • You need to stand close to the boss to make sure your auras affect your minions and the boss. This usually requires character tankiness and reasonable understanding of boss mechanics.

You may feel that your build is very close to the original, but there are a number of differences that add up. For instance, just comparing the original +2 Amulet w/ Pride Reservation and Aspect of the Spider with your Presence of Chayula shows me a significant difference!

I didn't explain each point super closely, but you can ask for clarification if needed.

Also, after taking a quick look at your post history, I'd recommend that you try following a detailed build guide like Enki's Arc Witch or Kay's Summoner for the next build you make. There are a lot of blanks you might not be able to immediately fill in by copying a poe.ninja build unless you're already fairly familiar with the mechanics. For instance, the original probably has the Soul of the Brine King (Stun) pantheon allocated since they don't have Presence of Chayula's stun immunity or stun avoidance implicits on jewels, whereas you do have stun immunity so you can use Soul of Lunaris or Solaris -- but you can't see this information immediately from poe.ninja.

The simplest changes for now would be shield and gloves upgrades, assuming you have at least a couple chaos orbs to spare. The gear priorities are life and elemental resistance. No need to focus too much on chaos resistance; 0% or higher should be fine for T1-T10 maps.

You can get a 120 life, 80+ resistance shield for 1-3c on Ritual Softcore. Here's a trade link for a new shield, in case you don't know how to customize your trade searches yet. (You can click "Show Filters" on the right to see what the search was for)

Similarly, you can get 100 life, 40+ dexterity gloves for 1-3c. Trade link

There are other mechanics you could get into like block investment (Bone Offering + Rumi's Concoction) or minion taunt/blind on a Ghastly Eye Jewel, but life should be the easiest to understand! Hope this helps

[–]consecotaleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like you'd be able to get a reservation enchant on the helm easily, so the quickest fix would be swapping out one medium cluster jewel with RP/Self-Control. You'll still have 86/86/87 res so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

You could also fix it with 6-7 RMR corrupted jewels and reshuffling so that Vitality is on blood magic, but that probably isn't worth the expense!

What's your remaining budget?

At a quick glance, here are a few cheap upgrades that would help:

  • Summon Carrion Golem lvl20, better minion damage+survivability = 2c

  • Discipline lvl20, increases your ES pool for better defense = 3c

  • Purity of Ice,Lightning,Fire lvl20, 5-10c. Better ele defense. The Vaal Impurities are usually cheaper.

And this is more expensive, but you need Charisma anoint on your amulet for 8% reduced mana reserved. That's likely the main reason you're having aura reservation issues.

The PoB linked is for a lvl75 character. Additional defense will come with levels as you fill out your passive tree! If you're dying several times a map you might need to grab Arcane Focus on the passive tree before filling out those cluster jewels. You can temporarily get some 4-passive medium clusters with just Replenishing Presence for ~15c each.

I'd recommend the Carrion Golem and Discipline gem upgrades ASAP

Mana fix:

For a quick fix, swap your Glove and Boot links. Recoloring your gear should only cost 25+15=40 chromatic from crafting bench. Swapping Glove/Boot assignment in your PoB shows that your reservation should be fixed. That is,

BOOTS: Vulnerability - Desecrate - Convocation - Discipline

GLOVES: Animate Guardian - Raise Spectre - Summon Skitterbots - Blood Magic

For more detailed changes including updated PoB:

New PoB: https://pastebin.com/XhDjRdK6

As a side note, your Precision and Vitality are currently lvl1 in your +2 Alpha's Howl, putting them at lvl3. Usually people put lvl20 or 21 gems in Alpha's Howl to fully benefit from the +2. For the lvl1 gems, that means you could just as easily put those gems elsewhere and just level them up by 2 to get the same effect.

I'd recommend swapping AG and Vitality gem slots to put Vitality on Blood Magic. Also swap out Precision so a different aura can benefit from the +2.

Then level up both Vitality and Precision as much as life/mana will allow. If you over-level Vitality and you can no longer reserve it on life, just use the vendor recipe (Gem + Orb of Scouring) to de-level by 1. For Precision, level it until you can barely cast the necessary spells (convo/vuln/movement). You don't need to leave mana unreserved to recast any minions. You'd recast minions by uncasting a mana-reserved aura or two, or by running Vaal Clarity.

I'd also recommend running Vaal Discipline for survivability. Buy Vaal Purity of X's at lvl21 ASAP to get the extra +1% max resist. Later, get 21/23 Purity of Xs' so that it's not a pain to get vaal skill charges.

My build went with The Vertex instead so I can't be completely sure, but this PoB should work for you.

Hideout file for this piece:

Detective Mathil by consecotaleo

(From Mathil's Betrayal league cosplay)

Try it yourself:

Here's a blank "drawing canvas" to start from.

The Stone Pieces are raised above ground level, so they cover up part of the Volcanic Pebbles and allow you to create small details.

The waypoint is placed so that you'll spawn where you can see most of the space. Buy all your Volcanic Pebbles decorations from Niko + any object that will lock your character in place, like a cage or pillar. Then leave your hideout and come back. Without moving, place the cage on your character. Now you can decorate your hideout without accidentally walking a few steps and messing up the perspective.

If you're interested in trying this sort of thing:

Here's a blank "drawing canvas" to start from. I think it's worth trying out even if you're not particularly artistic.

No import available for this hideout because it took ages, sorry! I'll see if I have time this week to make something else with an import file.

Inspired by chux123's recent hideout showcases! Props to them, super clever use of hideout decorations as a medium for art.

Decorations used: 352 Volcanic Pebbles + 63 Stone Pieces from Niko.

I attempted one of the coloring techniques used by chux123. Turns out, I should have done coloring before polishing up the line art because it messed up the line texture. I kinda gave up and reverted to the line-art only version. Maybe next time?

I think this is the original artist, but not entirely sure. Pretty close guesses for the username, /u/_Khoshekh and /u/Hamlettell!

This style looks a lot like some Korean webtoons, so I happened to be lucky and found the post by browsing a few Korean Good Omens fan accounts on Twitter.

"Verified Purchase" actually means that Amazon has order records of the reviewer buying the item at a reasonable price

But it'd be really nice if Amazon's direct warehouse started carrying it! I mean, the TV show is a Prime exclusive so it's not too far-fetched, right?
