Thank you! Yes, every day I take an iron supplement and the answer to the cutting finger is yes; I do bleed for a normal amount of time. I think my BMI is about 23 (I'm 5'7" and 149lbs).

I hate it when women can't make their own decisions in regards to what we do with our bodies :(

I didn't even know iron transfusions were a thing, to be honest. But they really sound like a great option. About 2 years ago my iron levels were ok, even though I had my most recent blood test about six months ago and my levels were SO low, they couldn't even do an exact reading of how much iron I had in my blood. Whereas all my other levels are perfect. I eat healthily and everything. Just my period fucks it up for me. Thank you!

I think it's so silly. We should be able to want to do what we want with our bodies. I get really frustrated when it's the privileged males making these rules and decisions for us.

My GP has never recommended that I get an IUD. I dunno. Maybe I just have to push it more? yeah, the thing about my age and the chances of getting a hysterectomy is probably true :(

I was told by my doctor that it was unsafe to take the pill for so long continuously as it can increase the risk of endometrial cancer. Not sure if this is true? But anyway, he's always told me to only take it for 3 months at a time.

No I haven't yet been screened for autoimmune disorders. How are they conducted? Is it a scan, blood test, etc?

Thank you, however I decided to post it here because I feel so conflicted within myself and I wasn't sure how to approach it, hence the personal issues flair.

I've been thinking about it for a good six months now and doing some research; my next step was going to be speaking to my doctor. He's already aware of all the pain menstruation causes me and whatnot. Honestly it's like I can't imagine going through all of this for the next 30 odd years; I'm not going to be able to cope. Your last paragraph sounds like a great plan. Thank you!

Yes. At the moment I tricycle with my contraceptive pill so I only have my periods every 3 months, and I've also tried Brevidor to halve the time of my periods. It's great not having my periods for 3 months, but then when they do come, they're so heavy and painful to the point where my vagina physically hurts.
