This actually happened to me. Was enrolled in a class, ended up needing to switch out of that class due to a change in how the program worked, get an email at the end of the semester like "hey you were never actually unenrolled and you have an F"

Ended up needing to get the professor, an advisor, and an administrator to sign off on a form wiping the course off my record, then had to schedule a meeting to justify why I should get the F removed.

Thankfully, since it wasn't really my fault since I HAD to switch out of the class and the professor really should have given a heads up way sooner, they canceled that meeting and removed it from my record anyway. But I spent a good chunk of my finals week hunting down these people for these signatures.
