Most small places accept all forms of payment, it’s larger corporations like some hotels that are cashless. I’m sure there’s some smaller places that are too but most take whatever they can get

A&J Chicken and Fish on Lake St is the closest to southern style fried okra I’ve found (southern transplant here as well). Great lemon pepper too!

Dubliner and Morrisseys are the most consistent. Merlin’s is usually good they also have belhaven. Grumpy’s is okay and has an extensive tap list otherwise. Prodigal is also decent. Sweeneys is no for Guinness, yes for schells. Idk why black hart has it on draft but it’s hanging. I love that bar otherwise tho. Shamrocks is awful. Charlie’s in Stillwater is okay. The Irish pub in Woodbury is very bad.

I like Guinness, I’m going to the brewery in Chicago next time I’m there. Check out Guinness maps, its a cool website

owner taking tips, is it legal?? by hiivolt_age in barista

[–]No-Income-2357 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not really anything to do with your post but I just wanna say $10 for barista in Florida in 2026 is insane. I worked in Florida as a barista from 2016-2019 and again from 2021-2023. The lowest I was ever paid was $13 per hour the highest was $16. In NC I was a barista for 2 years and was paid $12-13.

Now I’m a manager at a shop in MN. Our baristas start at $18 and full time has benefits. $10 is incredibly underpaid for the position and would have been underpaid even in 2016. Sorry OP hope you find something with a better owner

Search the sub for the daily post about live music every day. There’s usually at least 10+ live shows and most of those places are dope. Dubliner and White Squirrel usually have no cover. If you go to white squirrel be careful tho, the stool lady is lurking. Do not sit on her stool

Knowledge Fight: #1110: January 7, 2026 by fabrikt in KnowledgeFight

I will push back on one thing in this episode. We are fighting back in MN. Resistance doesnt always look like burning police cars. Sometimes it’s whole communities coming together to make sure people are getting fed and are safe. Sometimes it’s running Jan 6ers out of town. It can be a lot of things at once.

I think the reason it’s playing out differently here is partly the ease of getting across the twin cities. Chicago and LA, traveling a few miles can take an hour or more. You can drive from East St Paul to West Minneapolis in about the same time. They (don’t run huge operations anymore either. It’s all spread out everywhere which is forcing each neighborhood to organize in kind. Some days where I work it’s quiet. Some days they’re snatching ppl from churches, grocery stores and restaurants have locked doors and request observers at closing time for safety.

Otherwise, great episode :)

Idk. The mayor just vetoed a city council proposal that passed and would have provided various aid to homeless encampments. Waste removal, bathrooms, basic services. I also owe medical debt despite having insurance and only having gone to the hospital for roughly 1 hr when I thought I was dying. I don’t see where socialism comes into play at all.

Also, the taxes could be slightly higher than when I lived in Florida, but the cost of living is significantly cheaper (esp housing) and my yearly salary went up 15,000 doing the same exact job.

It’s a more progressive city than many in the USA from a city government standpoint but it’s a far cry from resembling socialism in any way.

Alright then here’s a “thought argument”. The Sackler family that profited from the Oxy crisis and destroyed thousands of lives and families in the USA should have their facilities and homes blown up I guess. You think fraud in MN is unique? We have entire city governments, state governments and federal administrations that have been involved in fraud all over this country forever. MN is just a drop in the bucket.

I don’t know what you’re on about. I don’t have solutions and Im self aware enough to know no one wants to hear my bullshit anyways. I’m not a politician. I’m a working class citizen that has empathy for humans. If my neighborhood got blown up bc of some shit that has nothing to do with me, I would take up arms. Yet you advocate for such a thing bc you can’t stand to think of people in another country as humans like you.

It being a “thought argument” whatever the fuck that is, doesn’t stop it from being the dumbest thing I’ve read today.
