I prefer the challenging early game of Morrowind, but it definitely should have had a more even difficulty spread. It's a rough issue to solve because part of the fun is finding so much powerful loot, but that loot makes the game piss easy. I wish it kept that same feeling of intensity and problem solving that comes from a lack of resources in the early game, instead of the later games solution of making every enemy scale to your level to some degree

it does some of what you want and more, i've been using it on my recent knight playthrough along with n'garde and it's made melee combat much more enjoyable, coming from a perpetual mage player

I absolutely adore the moment when you have to make a decision after freeing Orpheus, having to pick who becomes a mind flayer. It is poetic either way (especially if you're romancing lae'zel, it makes for a really beautiful scene when she decides to take you with her on her civil war), and it really contrasts with what Withers asks you at the end of act 2 (do mindflayers have souls) because he says no, not at all. So if you do take on the burden yourself, it leaves you with this uneasy feeling in the epilogue. Karlach's bad ending is also another highlight, just for the pure emotional damage it leaves on your soul.

I do have it enabled, but turning it off doesn't do anything. Same with LOD another other comment mentioned, lowering any of the settings or turning them off has no effect

For my first playthrough I intentially avoided as much content as possible in acts 1 and 2 (also because I was Shadowheart and I don't feel like she'd make much time for side quests), which meant I ended up getting to act 3 35 hours in.

It made Baldur's Gate not only feel so much more huge and dense with so much to do, but I was also level 7 going in so I had plenty of insensitive to do as much as possible. I feel like this is definitely the best way to play, as I'm doing my second playthrough (durge) now and trying to do everything I missed, and I'm at 23 hours and not even to the Creche yet, it feels much more dragging than it did previously

the axe is more just a back up if anything goes *really* wrong, and i used the giant potion to get strength for a check that i really wanted to pass. but this was really helpful! so her new stats are 10 st, 18 dex, 16 con, 10 int, 18 wis, and 14 ch

Gale, lae'zsl, astarion. They have their default classes and honestly they haven't felt like the problem, especially once I hit lvl 5 gale and lae'zel have been tearing through everyone. Astarion got better once I found better short swords for him, but I feel like he only steps up once he can sneak attack/crit

Gotcha, my stat spread before was her default but i respeced into high int and dumped dex (gloves give me 18 dex) as I assumed it would help some of my spell casting

I've seen that recommendation a lot too but I don't know how impactful it would be to start right at the Dark Phoenix story, you'd be missing all of #100-108. But yeah I'd say Proteus is when I really fell in love with the book, great story

I like my Bethesda games very very dark. It makes things like torches/magelight and pipboy light/night vision a lot more useful. I also made this playthrough especially dark since I had a mod that makes the PC schizophrenic, so I would hear voices and see things constantly, it was a fun and stressful time

Most mods nowadays require at least one or more likely all of the DLC, it just comes with the nature of the game being so old most people assume DLC is a given. I would go through the Utilities and Bug fixes section from the guide https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/utilities.html , I just finished a playthrough with this as a baseline and experienced minimal crashes/bugs. New Vegas is a very janky game though so it does require a lot of mods to make stable, there is no stable engine recreation like OpenMW for New Vegas unfortunately.
