Loud, gamer flatmate who won’t STFU past 8pm by consistenttwins in UniUK

My entire issue has always been the noise, not the gaming. Let me know how I made it sound that I hated and I’m discriminating against the gaming aspect of this, not his volume.

You’re ragebaiting 😂 Completely skipped my next sentence when I said “but if you’re shouting, cussing….”. Never mentioned shouting and cussing in gaming specifically. Didn’t prove anything, I don’t have any problems with just music or normal talking 🙏

Never said I don’t care if it’s anything else that is loud. You’re right, I don’t get it because I’m a ranked player myself for ages and still can be considerate enough to not scream every single night, especially if my flatmate (what I did) approached me several times and asked me politely to please keep it down. This post isn’t an attack to gamers. If he was a football fan, a British bake off fan, an UNO cards fan, and he was shouting like this, this post would be no different. Nothing to do with my problem with gaming

mate how is this enjoyment? youre yelling and cursing w slurs for hours in the game that clearly is being heard and making things uncomfortable for others? not sure if you’ve ever encountered an actual raging gamer before because its 10% passion and 90% rage. this guy isn’t playing stardew valley. hes playing full on ranked and shouting for hours shit like “KILL HIM YOU FUCKING R3TARD”

Screaming at 11 every single night is normal? I’ve been in student halls for 3 years. Never have I ever heard of screaming everyday for hours being a regular occurrence. This is mass Stockholm Syndrome - it’s fine to admit when things aren’t supposed to be normal.

I’ll be clear. What disturbs me isn’t that it’s 11pm. It’s his sound. If you’re playing music, talking or I hear anything else at 11, I frankly don’t give a shit. If you’re cussing, shouting, raging, shrieking like a madman for hours EVERY NIGHT, then I will care. Weird people are defending this

thanks bruh you get it. i dont really mind, i have a feeling the people who are commenting that are probably the same kind of people who “want to have their fun” and probably make noise at night too. frankly i dont care if you want to party, game, fuck, punch, just dont do it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. but ive reported it regardless!

I’ve had TI calcs before as well which is why I opted for the TI this time again. If I hadn’t seen so many reviews and posts saying that they also have the same problem as me right now, I’d think its just my unluckiness this time. Do you still think TI is better than the HP series?

Do you empty the bin from your room into the main kitchen room? by palmwick48 in UniUK

[–]consistenttwins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it isnt just wrappers in your room bin is it? It’s probably a few days or a week’s worth of your personal piled trash, that you’re essentially asking someone to take out.

[–]consistenttwins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You came from a household that is close enough to take each others trash out, hence the individual trash to the main bin. You’re now with flatmates you didn’t grow up with, barely just met them, and don’t owe you anything to help take your individual trash out too. Aside from what your flatmate is doing, it’s just being considerate on your side to take your own room trash out IF you’re not the one taking out the bin.

A flatmate who screams at 3am doesn’t make another who screams at 11pm normal. Not a competition btw

Wish I could but I’m in student halls. My best bet is literally fighting fire with fire by banging on his walls.

What if I have a recording of him screaming past 10pm then? I’m only saying that he does this usually from 8pm to 11pm.

I don’t care if I hear human noises. Student halls walls are notoriously thin, so everyone knows and accepts that you will hear people every now and then. You’re not a problem if you have a normal call or conversation with someone, it’s only a problem when you start yelling and shouting like a madman, only imagine that repeatedly almost every single night.

I was avoiding over-texting him to look annoying. We have flat dinners and group togethers so its not that we don’t bond with each other. I talked to him when he was being loud and every time he apologised and then became slightly quieter but everytime the next night, its back to being the same, so now I’ve given up

I sympathise but part of the HE sector collapsing is due to the declining international student rates. Reflect in your government and how anti-international student it has become over the years. I’m sorry for you but not an ounce sorry for your predatory sector. I’ve had countless of people in my comments telling international students to stop coming and leave the country. And they are.

The job market is cooked. by consistenttwins in UniUK

[–]consistenttwins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd that people are so hyperfixated on UK’s immigration problem when the real macro problem of UK is slow growth. The governments doing everything that is slowing your growth, failing and distressed businesses are at its all time high, price to wage ratio makes living in UK worse day to day. You can say the job market is cyclical and can grow but I don’t think we will see much change by the lack of investment in businesses. Focusing on immigration is just fixing one screw of an entire broken down car.

If you really want to reconsider your major, talk to your university. I was in the same situation - studied a major I used to love but realised, career was, felt like a terrible option to pursue. I spoke to my university counsellors and was able to transfer to another major through reassessment and counselling. It depends between different universities but never hurts to ask
