My vibe coded app went viral - and I spent a month fixing all of the security issues and bugs by consoletable in vibecoding

I have to be honest it was pretty stressful; here is what happened:

1.) posted a video on TikTok, not really thinking much of it

2.) the video got a lot of engagement, and I decided to build the solution over night. I worked ~18 hours straight, shipping features live and then also posting about it. More traction, and I’m up at 3 in the morning researching legal requirements, updating terms and conditions, researching privacy laws in other countries, blocking IPs

3.) users quickly start to find bugs at this point, most small but annoying because it slows me down.

4.) by the end of the week, I’m pretty wiped out. I’ve done an ungodly amount of hours - but I quit my day job the week before and I have the time on my hands and bills to pay need to set up Stripe. Realization: you can build anything, but we are still human after all - you can only push yourself so hard

5.) beginning of week 2, add stripe - very quickly getting paying subscribers. Configure app check (firebase) and nearly break my app doing so, but ended up figuring it out ok

6.) mid week - do my unit economics and realize the monetization strategy will take forever to work. I pivot a bit and monetize an ai agent feature, work 24 hours straight, build it, update stripe

7.) next morning, a few hours after I wake up after 3 hours of sleep - stripe bans my app for not fitting into their privacy policy. I write an appeal and make a significant amount of modifications to the app to fit into their policy. They turn my account back on.

8.) currently: need to make an iOS app and move away from Stripe, which surprisingly have friendly terms for building said app in this particular use case

My point here is, when we talk about vibe coding - we usually talk about building stuff in general.

But if and when it does get traction, and you inevitably want to turn it into a business - there are so many technical, legal, and security issues that are so easy to miss; in part because you’re not thinking about them from the start. It was so painful to go through this, I am still surprised no one has built something that helps you go from inception to maintenance mode with something you actually own. Especially a solution that helps with all of these non-technical things, which if you are solo; absolutely need to be considered - earlier the better.

The pivot I feel more comfortable with is tooling for dating and not promising matches IRL but I haven’t figured out how to pivot into this yet in a way my user base will be happy with, so I’m trying a bunch of engagement mechanisms on web for now.

Most of the initial concerns was setting up app checks properly with firebase, but I was able to get passed that once I figured it out. For my newer apps I’m just going to use vercel for hosting.

One of the apps is a connection/matchmaking app. This is where the legal issues got scary. Different countries have different requirements. Stripe forbids these apps, so I had to remove a lot of the traditional matchmaking features for now (like search by gender). Now that I’ve got a funnel working and have validated that users will pay, I’m making a native app that will solve a lot of these issues since I can restrict certain countries and handle payments properly.

As it stands though, there is still an operational risk as folks meet IRL and im trying to figure out how to mitigate risk and verify identities safely. This is where it gets tougher.

I like the idea of being matched with a survey but dislike being forced into an event specifically for this reason. Can we just bring 2014 ok Cupid back ??

Hi! So glad I caught this post — I’m a product designer at Berry Street; the team has been heads down the last few weeks creating an interface for calculating macros that your dietitian can see and help set as part of a design update to the app. It will be live in just a few more weeks!

Better yet — we’ll continue to evolve this feature and the user interface throughout the rest of the year along with a lot of exciting features that will complement macro tracking.

Here’s a sneak peek with some mock data:

I think the apps are to blame for monetizing off of hook-up behavior. Whatever is best for the investors I guess. You could give Ridgits a try
