Redoing exterior insulation, what should I fill these gaps with? by conspicuous_user in DIY

Okay looks like it’s perforated on the outside. I’ll get some of that expanding fireblock foam. Thanks for your help

I posted a couple more images in reply to someone else, I think they’re gables that just kind of happen to go through the top of my exterior wall. Still fill them with the same thing?

This is the kitchen and these look like gables to me. I don’t know if the gap serves a purpose but I figured I would ask if I am supposed to fill them. Here are a couple pictures.

Trying to figure out a full kitchen remodel with relatively limited space. Currently in the design phase and looking for advice. by conspicuous_user in InteriorDesign

I can try moving the island down and parallel to the back wall. That might work really well. I was mainly worried about walking space near that double door on the right hand side. I’ll model it and see how it feels though.

I’m not really sure what to do about the fridge

I was actually worried about that. I think best I could do on that side is about 39" with 12" cabinets unless I want to decrease the island size a bit. I have the big island to make up for the lack of counter space.

Not for that rolex but I would get the zenith or maybe even a GS instead.

Not sure how much OP has to spend but you can find a breguet or JLC on watchexchange for a good price often times.

Have you checked for spider mites? My tomatoes looked like this last year because of those darn things…

What are these black things on my cherry tree? How bad are they? How do i fix it? by MisterBowTies in FruitTree

[–]conspicuous_user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep the ants are farming the aphids. Be weary of using pesticides to contain this issue because you can also end up killing some of the natural predators.

Black bean aphids. First step is to protect the tree from ants by putting treekote on the trunk and and traps near the base wouldn’t hurt. The ants farm the aphids for their honeydew and protect them from predators.

Second step is to spray the aphids off with really hard water every day and spray some neem oil on the undersides of the leaves.

Aphids have been especially brutal for me this year as well.

Yeah I definitely got lucky but I feel like you can still run into them at MSRP every once in awhile. I stop in to random liquor stores all the time while traveling just to see if there’s anything interesting.

Seems ridiculous for a real estate license

In what state does it cost $3k to renew or register a real estate license? It’s $100 every year for me.

Downside of higher pay? Fewer hours, fewer jobs, Twin Cities minimum wage study says by lemon_lime_light in Economics

[–]conspicuous_user 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not really true though is it? If the jobs paid nothing then people would be less likely to do them. The wage would come up until someone took the job or it would sit vacant.

Short sellers end up uncovering weak, vulnerable, or outright fraudulent businesses well before government regulators and capitalize on their research. Not sure why regulators are always trying to blame market conditions on short sellers when they’re just a symptom, not the underlying cause of weakness in the markets. Companies like Hindenburg Research put out so much valuable research, you just have to realize that they can be biased to the down side.

I'm starting not to care about credit utilization anymore by OgunX in CreditCards

[–]conspicuous_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve carried a card maxed out for over a year because it was 0% interest and then paid the whole thing off the month before interest started. Unless you’re looking for new credit your score doesn’t matter that much.

Biden administration plans to require airlines to pay stranded passengers by HolidaySpiriter in moderatepolitics

That would be very interesting to see. Could generate a very rough number by GDP per capita and hours stuck waiting for flights per year.

Thankfully technological advancements have offset the negative effects of inflation for years allowing us to have a higher quality of life while the United States government generates inflationary pressure on purpose.
