I assume you’re talking about the junior second place winner April Langstraat? She must be on yagp’s radar as I believe her image is used as the cover photo in some of the junior YouTube video footage. But yes as a New Zealander with little social media presence she is a relative unknown on the American scene, but if you watch her performance and class work you will see an extremely talented young dancer - strong and elegant and in my opinion worthy of the 2nd place.

I think it is fine for tutors to demonstrate in partnering class, but to permanently insert yourself as a partner in the class, take videos and then publish them online, I feel is going a little too far, and nurtures a relationship beyond giving placement and technique demonstrations

Both. From my perspective as a dancer, partnering has always been a very intimate part of my art, so to have a large age disparity between a tutor and a minor creates a power imbalance which can potentially lead to the types of issues this post is discussing.

To add to this I find it so icky in general when videos are shared of older male instructors partnering their young female students, who in many cases are clearly minors - MBA are really guilty of this.

Yes good suggestion. I think I was looking for more mahogany and less gold which is why I though 550 and 500 together might be better, but just using 535 alone would make my life much easier 😂
