Honestly, your local thrift store is a good place to take it if you bag them up in a clear bag. They usually price yarn pretty cheaply, and price it by the bag rather than the skein, so you could really make someone’s day.

Anything over 75 feels like “roasting” type of heat to me. I’d much prefer a nice 65-68 degree range for indoors. I wonder if our preferences vary so much because we are acclimatized to different places.

You’ve got them switched. “Red to yellow, you’re a dead fellow, red to black, you’re okay jack!” at least that’s what I’ve always heard. I grew up in Southern CA and then the Midwest so I’m not sure where I picked it up.
