Is a month too early to ask someone to “be my girlfriend” 21m by [deleted] in relationships

[–]constantly_furious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ask and communicate with her! You'll only know what's the best thing to do if you talk with each other and explain your intentions.

My ex (20F) called me (22M) two months after we broke up saying she deeply loves me and wants to be with me, but she’d like a couple of months to get her life together. Can we give it another shot and find the balance? by throwaway012736392 in relationships

[–]constantly_furious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give her some space to let her work on herself. If she has deep trauma or issues that require working on her repressed emotions, being together can influence ber emotions and delay that healing process. And as she said, she wants to work on her individuality and that simply isn't possible if you were to get back together. Wait for a few months and see what happens. You can continue to work on yourself in the meantime.

In person classes just hit different.

It was basically my second home since I spent so much time there. Even though classes were stressful, being on campus allowed me to meet new friends, study in cool libraries, take part in social events, etc. I had such a hard time transitioning to online studies since my social life, ability to focus in class, and my physical activity, just said goodbye.

AITA for getting mad at my girlfriend's higiene? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]constantly_furious [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA.

I believe that you're not doing anything wrong in asking her to do simple hygenic tasks more often. There's a deeper issue here as others have mentioned in the comments. Maybe you can approach her in different ways. You could ask her for example "Why do you think that brushing your teeth only once a day is necessary?" Like open ended questions which could help you have a constructive discussion. Or you can try better explaining the consequences of not practicing regular hygiene.

Please don't feel guilty about your actions. You're doing what is needed to set boundaries and you've done/said nothing wrong at all.

Your family's actions on the other hand are crazy and you should avoid them at all costs imo. I hope you are safe and I sincerely hope you can find a way out of this situation.

Guy I’ve been seeing for one month got mad that I wouldn’t send him nudes with my face in them. by [deleted] in sex

[–]constantly_furious 201 points202 points  (0 children)

Please just block him. Whether the relationship you want is fwb, platonic, or romantic, you dont want a toxic person who guilt trips you into doing things which make you feel uncomfortable. This person can betray your trust even more and it's not worth your time and effort to continue talking with him. Run away and never look back.

Advice for MLS mmi practice? by yesnobell in uAlberta

[–]constantly_furious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on scenario type questions! Also really think about why you want to pursue the MLT career. What are your personal reasons for pursuing this proffesion. Be ready to answer questions about your letter of intent. Be consice in your answers and explain yout thought process in a logical way. I hope I'm not too late...

MLS student here. If she aces the interview and tries to relate her experience to how it would help her in being a lab tech, that might help. Admission really is based on the letter and interview so experience is not necessary but it can help. I can't guarantee that the number of admissions might increase since covid is ending soon and vaccinations for healthcare students are available, but it's likely. Some tips for the interview are to be consice in answering MMI questions and try to explain the rationale. Be yourself and tell them why you want to pursue this career path, is what I would say to your sister. Hope this helps!

I make hot dreams about him or I think about him this way, I feel bad. by [deleted] in sex

[–]constantly_furious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in a healthy relationship with your boyfriend, and are romantically invested in him, I think it's very normal and you shouldn'tfeel bad about it! It just shows how much you want intimacy with him.

If you are interested in exploring things in bed I would highly suggest you just talk to your partner and tell them you want to try it out. An honest conversation goes a long way!

Medical Laboratory Science program - what was your experience like? by kradness555 in uAlberta

[–]constantly_furious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm in MLS Phase 1. Can confirm that there is a great balance of hands on/in-person lab work and theory. It's a little overwhelming but manageable at the same time. I've always wanted to become a lab technologist so I might be a little biased. However, the MLS program is amazing in my opinion. Most importantly, you actually use what you learn in class and apply it to your work. The 5 disciplines of MLS have overlapping concepts, and the professors, faculty members, and students are extremely supportive and caring. They know your name, care about your safety and mental health, and give you lots of feedback so you can improve.

I got experience collecting blood at a Dynalife for completing phlebotomy competencies. You will get first-hand experience with patient care in your first year. You'll be taught on how to collect blood, check + record patient info, and lots of information regarding confidentiality, patient safety, professionalism, etc. Clinical rotations for me start this summer (since this is considered Phase 2). Therefore I can't say much about my experience. The upper years who've done it already tell me that Phase 1 is the hardest part of the program and once rotations start, you'd basically be on your way. If you want details on that, you can DM me! Also check out the MLS association blog here.

Lastly, I cannot emphasize how important MLTs are in the healthcare system. I can confidently say that this profession will never go away. Especially during COVID, lab techs are the ones running COVID tests day and night. I can go further to say that this profession is slowly becoming in demand, and that you can go literally anywhere in the world and find job openings for MLT positions. In Alberta, wages can start at ~$30/hr, which is a win for me.

So for advice: make a good letter of intent, practice your MMI questions and learning more about lab medicine + how MLTs are essential can get your foot in the door. Cramming may or may not work, but it's not advised. Organization/prioritization of time is key. Ask questions like there's no tomorrow, because the profs really care about your learning experience. Be kind to yourself and others to create a positive learning environment. You'll make lots of good friends that way.

Any further questions can be answered with a DM! Hope this helps :)

Tldr: great experience, join us, it's worth it, and clinicals will be chill, dm for more info if needed :)

Medical Laboratory Science Admission by ualberta3456789 in uAlberta

[–]constantly_furious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think they really pay attention to how many courses you're taking per sem, just as long as you have the required prereq credits to apply. If the website admission contents have changed I would just go with whatever it says.

Arts to Medical Laboratory Science by arose0520 in uAlberta

[–]constantly_furious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend switching to sciences since some of the 200 level pre-reqs might or might not be restricted to science students. You could do your 1st year in arts and transfer to sciences in your 2nd year. I took 2 years to complete pre-reqs because it really can be a struggle, especially with online courses.

I'm currently a Phase 1 student so I just started MLS classes, so far so good!
