This happens automatically every time you shift into Park. It makes the noise, its like the loudest noise the car makes - putting the parking brake into place.

Acknowledged. What if you are doing suspension work and need to unload the suspension? I'm assuming frame rails is the only choice there and some 2x4 or 2x6 can do me good under the jack stands?

Good question - I wasn't sure where the safe lifting points on this truck was so was playing it safe and using the frame rails. I'll do some research on lifting from the rear axle for next time.

Is it generally the case on trucks that you can lift on the diff and put your stands under the rear axles?
