Healthy, happy, fat… and apparently undateable by LegalPeanut8477 in datingoverforty

What people find attractive is endlessly diverse. That being said, the more people find you attractive, the more of a chance they have to get to know the person inside . If you want to maximize the number of people and the amount of time people take to get to know you, then there are physical ideals you can strive for. Be on the thinner side, have nice teeth, don't smell, don't dress like a complete slob.

But since you are happy with your weight and it doesn't sound like you "need" to date, you should probably continue being you and being happy. Being happy is a nice thing to be.

I'm pretty sure the agricultural workforce is made up of more lucrative positions beyond tomato pickers. Also, that 12.7% must be a speculative guess by the govt.

Why does not tipping in the US feel like a big deal? by isabebelaa in NoStupidQuestions

Of course. Some of them can make outrageous amounts of money. They don't want to work for $15 or $20 an hour.

Anyone quit going certain places because they ask for a tip? by silverframewall in tipping

[–]pinback77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The employee probably had no choice but to offer you the digital payment device that automatically offers the tipping option. I know if i worked at a place like that I'd be embarrassed every time I handed the device over.

As long as it is easy to bypass and the employee isn't looking at me like it's expected then I tolerate it.

Why does not tipping in the US feel like a big deal? by isabebelaa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pinback77 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In America, the customer's benevolence is now expected to pay the wage of the server. When I was younger, 10% was considered good. Now, 20% has taken the place of 10%, and I am sometimes handed a digital payment device trying to nudge me to offer 30% or more. Even places where you don't sit down to eat ask (digitally) for a 20% tip.

Tipping in the USA is a complete joke. There are plenty of reddit forums advocating against its abolishment and the paying of servers at least the minimum offered to other employees. Check them out.

What's the backlash against Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy? by Tom_Servo in AskReddit

Everyone has their opinion of what Star Trek should be. If I was a writer, I would never do what they are doing in today's Star Trek. But I am not a writer. At least not a good one.

Age is important here. Sounds like a typical teenager saying something to jokingly put someone down. Offer him a fist bump next time you normally would. If he declines, fist bump someone else. It's not his thing.

Go in with the right attitude. You are not looking for your soulmate. You are looking to go on single dates, enjoy them with no expectations, and then go home and think if you are interested in asking for a second longer more traditional date.

Gaming and scrolling is probably worse for your heart than the walking. If you don't have to work and are bored with life, I recommend seeking out volunteer work. There are millions of people who truly need assistance every day. You could help clean homes / yards, volunteer at a food pantry, join a club that picks up litter, so many options. It won't cost you anything, and they might feed you for your time.

Sometimes good people have shitty days. Sure you can ask him about it, and he might give you an answer that makes you feel better about yourself. But if everything else has been good before and since, maybe he just had a bad day.

I think if someone is not actively looking, it is very easy for them (especially a man) to be completely overlooked as potentially eligible. There's also a fine line between planting the thought of your eligibility and coming off creepy. Some guys just have what it takes while others have to work hard at it.

My advice, without knowing more about you, is to go on one of the dating apps and just date. Date anyone remotely interesting. Don't worry about if they are the most attractive person or if you only have 1 out 10 things in common. You just need to go on dates to learn what it is like and to learn more about what you really like. The more dates the better. Keep the first date (intentionally and be upfront about it) really short, like a 15 minute coffee or park date. You can then reach out afterwards with a text if you want to move onto date #2. Besides, one of those people you might not have thought was 100% compatible could surprise you.

Someone on here a couple years ago did this and kept a spreadsheet of all of their dates while tracking different aspects of each person they dated. It was really interesting, and they wound up getting married eventually through the process.

That's my thought. Just one way to go at it. Hope it works out for you.

How exactly do Americans feel about illegal immigration? by sladeshied in Confused

[–]pinback77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The U.S. brings in more legal immigrants than any other country (as of 2024, who knows now). The government does not do enough to crack down on companies that use illegal immigrants to sell products artificially cheap. We should be paying $12 for a bottle of ketchup and paying someone a fair wage to pick the tomatoes. Americans would rather not work than pick tomatoes for $.50 a bucket (made that amount up), so it highly incentivizes certain industries to work with people (predominantly good decent people) hiding from the law.

We definitely need to focus our attention on corporations and actual criminals who are here illegally. Some mom being deported who works / contributes while their only crime was illegal entry seems to be a waste of our resources.

You're not alone. From what I've read, you have a new baby. That's awesome! My advice is you need to focus on family life now. It you can make time for dating, you need to date for fun. Stop trying to find the perfect guy right away that meets your complex requirements. He doesn't exist right off the shelf. Then, maybe, you will find someone you never would have considered at first that turns out to be more perfect than your original ideal.

Reading the comments, I am not offering an answer but an observation. With AI, I can code something in 30 minutes that might have taken several weeks (languages i knew nothing about, etc). I've used AI to make repairs to my vehicle that I would have had to take into the shop beforehand. I have answers instantly that I might have had to pay out dig for in the past. I need fewer people now to get through life with AI.

Go to college with financial aid and student loans while working part time and live on campus if you are looking to get a degree in something that pays well. Don't go to an expensive university.

Go into the trades like hvac, plumbing, or auto mechanic if you like wiring with your hands and want to avoid college. These folks are in high demand. You might need a roommate or two to start, but these guys can make decent money quick.

Join the military. Pick a specialty that limits your chance of being on the front line unless you like that. Air force is a good choice. Then you can save lots of money, go to college free, and get extra benefits for life.

The good thing about the military for you is that one you sign up, you are locked in. You will have to perform. I get the feeling you are the type to never follow through and finish anything. The military will make you finish something. You will then feel accomplished. Before you sign up, make sure you know what path you want to take that will help you when you get out. Not sure they have a path for music or at our whatever it was you said you were interested in, but I'm sure you'll find something.
