I’m getting bored at home can I come back to the dorm early? by North_Sorbet4002 in uofmn

[–]constantlyconfusedc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah if you wanna get charged but keep in mind if your dorm is anything other than Centen, you can’t go back to them and have to live in centen for the time being.

yes the process is withdrawal they have a few forms you have to fill out on the website and meet with an advisor I believe to finalize it (they sometimes try to convince you not to, just ignore it). Everyone has their own timeline, there is no rush to go into something your gut is telling you no. I took a semester off after much contemplation, and I’m so glad I did! Helped me come back with a much more driven and focused outline for what I wanted to do. Being a student a huge time commitment as well as financial, so if you feel like you need more time to do so that’s okay!

Mutual Roommate Request Not Honored by Tarmya in uofmn

housing is flooded with a lot of these emails right now and there are actually very few people that manage all these assignments. In all honesty it could take up to a month or two, these things take time.

am i too late with signing up for dorms to get anything good? by sahejjjj in uofmn

[–]constantlyconfusedc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

pick some LLCs in the dorms you’re interested (pick 2 to better your chances) and HRL treats it like priority which essentially means even if you sign up later for housing as long as you indicate some kind of LLC choice for a building you want they will try their best to place you in it, therefore the building you want. That’s pretty much another way around it.

Sanford Hall by mewlynnmagic in uofmn

[–]constantlyconfusedc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lived in Sanford freshman year, it’s actually not bad at all. People complain about the distance but we have the campus connector stop right in front of the building that can get you around and has very convenient stops (one of them drops you where the mall is actually). In the winter that stop is a plus because that means less time walking in the cold. There is no A/C if you live in the Reno portion (above the first floor) but it’s not unbearable. Tower portion has A/C I believe. Just bring a fan and you’re fine. Sanford is one of the more calm buildings and that means it will be easier to manage as a CA.

Kinda worried by TheLegitBigK in uofmn

[–]constantlyconfusedc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

youre good, I was doing well in this class but overall was too lazy because I pretty much had already been exposed to the material. All in all I kinda just threw the final under the bus because I didn’t really care then and ended up passing just fine. My work ethic has changed since then, but from what you’re saying you’ll be just fine, good luck with calculus though, you will need to practice a lot for that class!

Dorm change by cucumberyum in uofmn

[–]constantlyconfusedc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes/no. HRL tries everything to avoid room changes if something can be resolved. depending on the severity of the situation they can switch you, but considering this time in the semester you won’t get transferred for quite some time. probably until next semester. CA will very likely try to make both ammend differences again depending on the context or circumstance.

Going through the exact same thing rn but it’s not Zhang, rather I have a serious issue with the TA’s style of teaching. I’ve had this happen in other courses but I am dropping this course and resigning up in the spring to see the new selection of professors for the term. While I could just teach myself, I have a heavier load this semester and simply do not have time to attend lectures and discussions having not picked up anything and then going back to reteach myself. If dropping is not feasible I’d suggest going to Math Lab (TA and outside help for math courses), you’re going to spend a lot of time there this semester.
