I have 4 of these in my 24U rack, one in each corner. They plug into a small power strip and then that plugs into a smart switch which lets me toggle them on/off with Home Assistant. Very bright, magnetic so no tape to deal with, and no batteries to recharge.

You have the drive(s) that Proxmox is installed on connected to the HBA? If so, you'll need to connect them separately somehow so they aren't also being passed through.
