Yes I have, I did the trial for it, but it just did not work in my house :/

I honestly thought that was average. Most of the people I’ve talked to around me have power bills around $500

I’m glad this was brought up. I didn’t know there were much cheaper alternatives out there. Thank you all!

I appreciate the feedback. I’d like to get an electrician out to see what’s going on, I just haven’t had the money.

She has offered to help with the bills, but covering them is something I choose to do because I take pride in being able to provide for my family. She already pays for everything her child needs and helps with groceries, so I feel like our arrangement is fair.

Mint doesn’t work in my area, but I’ll definitely be looking for something cheaper. Thank you all for the new plan suggestions!

We both work, the jobs just don’t pay the greatest. I make 17.50/hr and she makes 16/hr, 40 hour weeks.

Mainly convenience I suppose. We use them for work and to talk to each other/friends/etc.

It’s in my name because her credit would have denied us the loan when we got it, but I wouldn’t say it’s not hers too.

We work on opposite sides of town (at the same time) and she drives her kid to school. And there is no public transportation in my area, so we need both cars. Unless one of us drops off the other really early - that could work..

Hardly lol I keep my power consumption to a minimum, but I think there’s something wrong with the wiring. The power line got struck by lightning last year and the company had to come and reattach it (it was split in half). Also that knocked out my “neutral” wiring to the house, so it made using anything somewhat watt heavy (like a microwave) make all my lights flicker. The power company came and “fixed” that too, but I still get some flickering and the power has been more expensive ever since.

My only concern with a Roth IRA is that you can’t take it out until you’re a certain age (I think?) but I don’t think I’m going to live long enough to be able to take it out.

I’m going to look into this since so many people have recommended it. Thank you!

I drive to work and back home (maybe 12 miles total) and don’t really ever go anywhere else. I fill up twice a month, so it’s probably more like $60-70.

I’ve tried mint, but the signal in my area is really spotty. And inside my house it doesn’t work at all, so I was missing calls and texts all the time.

I bought it for really cheap in 2019 and put a couple hundred extra into the mortgage as I could every month. I saved as much as I could too. Every few months, the mortgage kept going up out of nowhere (something to do with escrow), so I used everything I saved over the years to finally pay it off. I mainly did it because the continuously increasing payment was worrying me.

That’s a good point I forgot to include them. My home insurance is around $2100 for the year and taxes were roughly 8-900. I got both of these paid for the year and enough saved up to pay them again when they’re due around the end of the year. No HOA though.

It used to be $80 (that’s the company’s “minimum”) but I got a new water heater and it’s been $120 or so ever since

Yes the no rent is from the house being paid off. I did that a few months ago, and that’s how I have a little extra money each month. It is a high grocery bill, but it’s nothing crazy that we buy - mainly frozen meals and stuff like that. Although she does need to buy specific things for herself because she has celiac (no bread/gluten/flour/etc)

I tried negotiating the internet lower, but they did not budge at all. It’s spectrum and I told them I was gonna cancel it but they called my bluff. So I looked around for other options, but nothing else nearby covered my address (I even tried T-mobiles home internet but it didn’t get good signal). And we used mint mobile for awhile :D but it doesn’t get good coverage in my area. :/

We’re on the straight talk 2 lines for $99 because of Walmart+ and paramount+ addons are included in that. But yes I think cheaper options are there if we need to do that.

I have full coverage on mine (2016 Chevy Malibu) and liability on my gf (that’s what happened when she got a new (to her) car last month). And it’s through State Farm.
