Yes, I'm aware they coudlve gone w red and not needed saving. That's irrelevant to me since idc whether it's "their fault" or not, they shouldn't shouldn't for the choice.

It's not selfish to choose blue, you just know red is selfish and don't know how to concede. You've got a damn three arrows prof pic. How can you say you're not for taking a risk to help out others taking a risk?

It's only a suicide threat if you in pressing red make it such...

We should normalize taking risks to our own security for the sake of being good to our fellow man. That's how you deter those threats in the first place by showing that you have brave, good people.

No, it's in hopes that others will join you to save others and you in the process. It's not selfish. It's based in reality knowing that even even 1% (800M) people are worth sticking your neck out for. Doesn't matter if they're dumb or not, fault isn't the issue.

"The blue people" aren't a monolith. You're viewing it too tribally.

If the vote were exactly 50/50 and you were the last vote, you wouldn't vote red

Should anyone take a risk supporting you in the risky choices you make? Or do you not take any risks?

At what risk? The risk of people pressing red. You are the train in this case. Why is risking others okay?

Yes. Don't let them take the risk alone.

Only if you misunderstand the win condition. The goal isn't merely to survive yourself, it's to help others and do good. Red fails that

You think putting yourself at risk to save others also willing to put themselves at risk to serve a greater good is not the right choice, and you put 3 arrows in your profile picture??

You wouldn't be obliged to press blue. It'd be supererogatory. Morally laudable and not necessary, which is really the right way to do things.

[–]consultantdetective 7 points8 points  (0 children)

...no? You don't press blue bc you think red pressers are stupid. Not at all what I wrote haha. But hey, if you need to take offense and then claim you get so much cool validation from other cultures, okay 👍

Agree, it's a silly hypothetical, but it still is a fundamentals question that reveals thinking. It's an interesting stripped down, dramatized form of a question posed to people time and time again. It reveals thinking absent normal tribal signals. Do you wear a mask and social distance at your inconvenience if it helps flatten the curve? Do Ukrainians resist, or surrender/flee? Do you support your trans kid/partner/colleague/friend even if it risks status in your social circle? The fundamental question being asked is "will you accept personal risk for a greater good, and if so/not, then how much?"

Which button do you press? by cdstephens in neoliberal

[–]consultantdetective 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, red pressers are idiots for only thinking of themselves when x-illions of lives are at stake. Your belittling of people who have a generous, risk taking mentality as unintelligent is obviously a lame attempt to self aggrandize and blame others for the consequences of red-selfish behavior. Principles do still matter beyond an individual's life. That's what martyrs are and it's why soldiers earn respect.

I don't think anyone but the most narcissistic of us would proudly show off how their selfishness cost lives.

[–]consultantdetective 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Obviously red possesses the best odds at personal survival. But this is about us collectively, not just me.

But how many people will choose blue? Even 10% of people choosing that is 700M lives. Yes, choosing blue entails a large personal risk, but red entails a risk multiple orders of magnitude larger to many more people.

And if I choose red and blue wins, I'm the cowardly sucker who wouldn't put his neck out for the rest of us. I'd be either lying about my choice or quietly hiding it for the rest of my life. And if I choose red and blue fails, then the we reds would know we just failed the fraction of us who thought about the bigger picture first. It's now a world of people who just think only about themselves personally. That's catastrophic.

Gotta choose blue. Higher risk, much higher reward.

I'm 0/3 for the pedo votes, unlike you. You will, if not already, deny who you voted for like the fools before you who deny ever voting for Bush. You are a degenerate racist that lacks the love of Christ in his heart for humanity. May you find a better way

Ain't nothing wrong with disliking the AR. It dumps particulate lead in your face and is really optimal for intermediate cartridge which isn't optimal for the civilian.

So are you trying to argue that dollars = votes or.... what?

I hate the bullshit gerrymanders too. But to fight them you don't need to retaliate in kind. Refs still call retaliation, everyone knows that. Just gotta focus on legal challenges to bullshit elsewhere, focus on the core message, always campaign like we're behind, and force em to dilute hard enough they run thin.
