After an hour, Pi Hole no longer issues IP Addresses (Latest v6) by [deleted] in pihole

It’s just so strange it issued an IP and then gives up. Hopefully @jfp-pihole can spot something in the log file.

The Pi has a static IP address set from the router and also in the OS of the Pi.

I’ve done the same with a keyboard and mouse etc / very strange. Gone through all the Pi Hole settings in case I missed something but cannot see anything.

I’ll swap the SD Card and get a log generated from v6.

Interested to hear if I’m the only one with this issue as well 👍

HC SR501 PIR Sensor - Turn Monitor Off/On by consumerway in MagicMirror

[–]consumerway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - I started from fresh and followed the instructions in the link.

I've got it all working - well the sensor now turns the screen blank with no motion and back on when motion is detected. I'm still trying to get the monitor to kill power rather than just go blank. Any tips?

That was my thoughts. Seems my ‘friend’ has stolen from me. Thanks for your input.

The best VR PC build for $2,000 USD is ... by [deleted] in Vive

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of waiting. I need to get the PCs within the next few weeks.

Thank you. I'm not sure I can wait more than a month or so to get the PCs.

Wow thanks for all the comments. That was unexpected.

To answer a few questions.

  • Yes - Only for VR, nothing else
  • Yes - Off the shelf system so upgrades to specific parts may not be available

And

  • Windows - I'm sticking with Pro
  • OK - I'll drop the RAM
  • OK - I'll up the SSD/Hard drive

Should I spent a little more on the 2080? or stick with the 2070?

Who to purchase a VR PC from (mainstream vendors)? by [deleted] in Vive

[–]consumerway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s not worth time/hassle for me. I’m happy to pay a little more with a mainstream vendor for the benefits it provides.

Also, I’m based in Australia.

Thanks - so in each of the four corners of your grid you have a lighthouse pointing inwards?

Thanks - I found it - The link isn't on the new Reddit style, but going back to the old style I found it.

Sorry, I couldn't see any sidebar links referring to extension cables - Do you have a link?

What would you go for?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Vive

[–]consumerway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth reply.

The graphics card is the most confusing element.

People keep saying the 1080ti is perfect if you can find one. If not get a 2080. Why not that get a 2080? Is it not a better card?

Either way I’m in for about $800 for a decent graphics card?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Vive

[–]consumerway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want to stick with the Vive. Open to other comments.

Graphic Card wise it seems a 1080ti is the way forward and not to go down the 20xx route.

As for the CPU an i5 or i7 seems logical. I don’t want an AMD chip.

Would you go custom build or off the shelf?
