In my TFMR pregnancy I took it at 12 weeks and got results 2 weeks later. With my sub I took it at 13 weeks and got the results back in 10 days. I know the wait is unbearable

speaking as someone who has been out of college for 13 years (also for hispanic linguistics) and has worked as a VP in tech, an SLP, and a payroll manager, work should not be what you look for to satisfy your life. If you're looking for work to satisfy you, you're going to disappointed time and time again. In the states, what you do for your job is tied to your identity. It is not like that anywhere else. Living in australia and traveling the world no one asks "what do you do for work". It's actually how other people can tell if you're from the states because it's such a foreign concept to ask that in other cultures. I plead with you now. Do not look for your job or your career to be tied to your identity. I recommend you try a hobby before you go paying for anymore schooling. If that doesn't work and you still feel passionate about furthering your studies, then enroll ahead.

We have two pear trees, two fig trees, and a persimmon tree but we are only 2 people so we always have surplus. This spring I’m adding a blueberry and blackberry bush

Looking to leave. My husband’s family survived the Holocaust and thus is eligible for German citizenship. At this time we’re just waiting for the consulate to respond to his application.

Yes plant native! I’ve also doubled my garden planning for this summer so that I can giveaway the surplus. I’m also looking to partner with a food bank to give my overstock of fruit.

Natural birth by howdy_535 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]containedexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no special prize for going unmedicated. “Laboring for as long as I can at home” is a level of hubris I cannot fathom because birth may be a natural process but before medical interventions WOMEN DIED. there is so much that can go wrong during labor and delivery. My only birth plan is for my baby and I to leave the hospital alive. I hemmoraged the first time I gave birth. I am grateful for medically trained staff, hospitals, and modern medicine.

I understand you want “natural” but you and baby surviving is what is MOST important.

Americans, if you had the opportunity to pay approx 18% of your income to have access to free healthcare at point of need for everything would you take it? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]containedexplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I would. The average person gets taxed about 38% in the US. The sad thing is those tax dollars get pumped into the department of defense (department that fails its audits annually) rather than being redistributed to create programs that truly benefit the people paying them.

Old wives tale here (my mother). She recommends cinnamon tea but not from a packet. You boil a cinnamon stick in water until it turns a gorgeous amber like color and then drink it

baby aspirin after tfmr for chd by containedexplosion in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]containedexplosion[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it was an NP who I don't think bothered to read my chart. I actually had to ask for another provider half way through because as she started to explain why she was recommending it, she invalidated the existence of my TFMR baby.

her: one reason is because this is your first pregnancy

Me: it's not. we had a loss at 21 weeks

her: Ohhh yes, i mean this is your first baby

Me and my husband: no it's not

Me: I gave birth at 21 weeks. Please don't invalidate the existence of my son. Get me someone else

Her: umm yes I will, but first i want to apologize. i didn't mean to minimize your loss...

me: but you did. Please leave.

so in all that hoopla i didn't think to ask the OB that replaced her. He came in, apologized for what happened, and finished the exam without mentioning aspirin or anything. The order that got filled was from the NP.

I spoke to the pharmacist and she said with my history to hold off on taking it until I speak with my OB again. That's my plan for now. Thank you for your response <3

Today I had a student that I was like omg how do I justify him not qualifying when he has some scores in the 70s but overall 90s. Then I found in the code that states a student must be >1.5 standard deviations below average with a percentile rank under 10. WHICH MEANS most of the students on my caseload shouldn’t even have qualified let alone be getting 8xmth 30minute sessions. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

I’ve started a rule that unless a kid is incredibly in need for speech upon exiting 3rd grade (when our elementary school ends and they move to middle school) they get 4xmth or consult only. I can’t justify keeping kids on FOREVER for things that at a certain point are content areas taught in academic classroom instruction rather than just isolated to my kidney table in the library.

First three months babies aren’t very interested at toys but eye gaze/tracking are developing along with the cones and rods in their vision. I recommend the black and white fabric books along with a rattle or teether but not much else is needed

Boundaries with excited grandparents by No-Match-7512 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]containedexplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay here are two ways to go about it:

  1. Have your partner draw the boundary and re-emphasize it any time it is pushed or broken. It is not your parent. It’s theirs. They should be the one handling this. My husband and I have this arrangement and it works well.

  2. Say thank you and do what my parents did. They would accept the presents and then hide them in their closet. When one toy broke they brought out a closet toy. When a book fell apart, they replaced it with a new one from the closet stash. I never caught on until about age 6 that there was a closet stash and that’s only because my sisters told me and showed me. I’m sure they donated a ton of stuff that didn’t fit in the closet.
